It takes time for servers to cycle out of the master server browser.

Thanks Tank. The only way I see of doing it is to either have a completely separate server, or do like we did, and limit the clients who can enter, and hope no one gets dropped, and someone else enters. The matches seemed to go relatively smooth, although it was a bit tough rounding up people to play.

So match 2 is done.

here is the final tally with Your_mom coming out on top.
edit: I wanted to point out the classic final words from Anumeric in the screenshot :)
"I prolly shoulda waited to play when I wasn't stoned"

It was a good match, fun to watch, aside from the sleep deprivation most everyone was experiencing, including me.

Lucifer had a good idea, to change from 40 min to a round limit. I think there were about 28 rounds in the first match, maybe 25 or so in the second, so how about 25 rounds ... 20 rounds? not sure. I'm leanign towards 20.

Oh one more thing. I tried renaming the server, but the new name still made it to the master list, so wouldn't that mean it's still sending info to it? I have the send to master setting at 0

The master server only drops a server from the list if it doesn't respond for like 8 or 10 hours. I could have just hooked u up with a password protected one... I did finnish that after all.

Edit: Well... Close to finnish...

Is there a backup for the master server? I'm just realising I don't know where it is, who is responsible for it, or anything. I believe something like this should probably be a peer to peer system, with no master server. But if that's too much to consider coding, then a backup master server should be a thing to do. Is something we should worry about?

Do you play in a window? Not full screen?

It's owned by zman... I don't know if he's actively maintaining it, but yes, it would be a good idea to have a backup. I've managed to run a master server before, I just did it for testing. We could include code that checks the two & eliminates the doubles, and dedicated server code that tells both servers.

I don't know about you, but XFree86 4.2 doesn't suffer this problem, and I don't expect X.org to suffer from it either.

Hmmm, something tells me you're not using any sort of X Windowing System(TM), are you?

Dont forget the first match ... we should have a final match with maybe the top 2 of both. If we did top 3 I could play ;)

Match 1
1st Kyle
2nd 2+2=5

Match 2
1st Your_mom
2nd Yaza

I'll leave it up to you guys to schedule if you want to play it (it's such a pain to organize players)... I'll make sure things are set up for whatever time you guys choose.
