Far as I know, the seed round's over and it's time for the knockout rounds.
I would object to a new team coming in this late. A couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't have cared, but we're about to start the knockout rounds, so we're actually about 2/3 through the tourney.
Umm, the LADLE is supposed to happen in a few months or so, joda, why don't you just hang on until then?
As far as fe playing the knockout round, I think if they failed to organize any seed rounds then they probably should just wait for the next tournament. The knockout round can be seriously held up by a team failing to organize enough to schedule a match, and forfeits aren't going to be pretty.

joda:
i am happy about your team joining in
i don't think it is all that serious...
regarding the ladle idea...
if we get enough feedback on what we are doing with the spoon
we learn from mistakes
and we are courageous about producing future-proof systems
then i am happy to try to stick to the provisional timeline
hence
could people please write something about their experience
regarding the spoon
especially people who have been central in organising
eg vanhayes and psyko from anarchic wanderers...
your honest feedback is essential:

I dont mind joda creating a new team either. When are the playoffs going to start? Is the time for the Seed Rounds over?
I think we gave fe and lm enough time and should start with the playoffs. Are the brackets found on the playoffs wikipage the 'official' ones? I suggest we start playing the quarter finals.
Joda posted some stuff about the playoffs in an obscure place on the wiki, which most of you probably havent seen yet.
I think #1 is a bit overkill, i'm fine with two and i'd go for the second #3.
Oh and are we playing best of five matches? or should we just arrange that with the opposite team?[/quote]

1. Spoon Players should nominate judges (for match rescheduling or something like that - in case "america to europe" pings are all 400+ or some other major problem.
2. A team with missing players can "give up" or choose to play with less players than the other team.
3. A team should only be allowed to use the players written on the playoff rooster.
OR
To prevent a player (e.g. "zop") from playing for multiple teams, just bind him to the first team he plays for - afterwards he is on that team.

With joda's team, that would make 8 teams which a far tidier number.
If, as mentioned, fe and lm forfeit their unplayed matches, the seed results would be as follows (taken from: http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php/ ... ED_RESULTS )
?? 6
aw 5
ct 4
ni 3
mbc 2
lm 0
fe 0
joda 0
So, who plays who?
How long do the teams have to organise matches?

I think a week is more than enough to arrange one match. But we havent been strict with dates in the past so i don't think there is going to be a problem now if a match is played some days later.

ok, I added my team to the list ...
I simply assumed if my team gets a chance to play (at all) we'll have to accept some challenge to be allowed to play. If any of the other teams prefers to fight ?? first... speak up
I also have a question about the minimum number of players required for the playoffs... I'd really like to see 8 vs. 8 player matches.
Also if there is a shortage of Spoon Servers, I'm able and willing to host 1 or 2 additional european servers. If possible I'd prefer for the server to be not on the master server list and only be used for the matches.
But other solutions are possible.

I'd say we start now, since we had no objections when a page ago it was proposed to have the seed rounds go on till past tuesday/wednesday.

Play 8 vs 8 for playoffs makes sense. If a team approved the date but has less than 8 players they can play or give up. I prefer 3b). Ok, I guess u can also replace the judges by the "spoon" community in case something goes awfully wrong, and then it can be discussed.
How long is it allowed to add or remove players from the list ?
Fixed teams would be more fair I guess, otherwise we can also focus on the fun (and just add players that want to play).
Question: Should the number of players be set to exactly 8 ?About the ""spoon playoffs"" from wiki wrote:

I'd vote for the "second third option" since it makes more sense to me. --Wrtlprnft 13:22, 18 April 2006 (CDT)

this is the only problem about self-organised:ed wrote: With it being self organising, who has the say on whether we start or not?
since there lacks a person in charge
decisions are trickier
and often turn into committee meeting kinds of decisions
in order to avoid this
the only realistic way is to agree on times before hand
and then everyone self-determines to stick to the dates
does their best to organise their teams etc
so...
failing this...
roll on the knockouts as soon as possible
hold the line
Let's reshuffle it so CT is on the opposite half to ??
There will never be a perfect layout. But this is as good as any.
I say just stick with it and get the battles underway.
Another thing, self organising can only go so far. If we have another one of these (I hope we do), let's have someone in charge next time.
Set rules, deadlines, the whole shebang.
