LMS Tourney?

Uhm, for fear of going backwards and forwards too much and/or this turning into a full blown argument.. Shall we try and come up with a decision about wall length etc. within the next few posts?

It seems as though there is little or no problem here when you take into consideration the size of the arena, the walls should stay in proportion. This isn't supposed to be a "HR" last man standing tourney, therefore ridiculously long walls and lots of rubber are out of the window.

Settings which are similar to swamp is what I had in mind. As someone said, we aren't trying to start a tourney based on a completely new game mode. Therefore, we don't really need to be spending so much time and energy discussing settings. There are many different settings that we can use for this, or we can go with the idea of using different settings throughout the tourney. Either way, this "bickering" about it isn't actually doing anything, except prolonging the outcome of the thread and the organisation of the tournament intself.

And too much debate on physics will stop any LMS tourney dead in the water. It's best for someone to just make the decision and set one up.

Page 8 now. Well Done. Word had the right idea with making the Cross'd&Pain tournament. As far as I'm concerned, THAT's the actual LMS tourney and it's happening in the midst of all this circular discussion. it will be over and this thread will continue.

The C&P tourney can't really fall under the category "Last man standing" but ok.

I vote for default settings (yes 1 rubber)
walls_length 1000
size_factor just enough to spawn all players without them dying.

Well, I know I'm going to wash my hands of all this. I've already put more effort into it than is warranted by the lack of gratitude, petty personal bickering, and inaction on something so simple and straightforward, including the inability or refusal to understand or accept the basic, reasoned, long-established concepts related to it.

This also just further reinforces what I've said all along about the development of all these new, gimmicky game modes detracting from the basic game. So many players don't even know, aren't even capable of understanding, what a normal/standard/classic server is anymore. I can't tell you how many kids have come into Shrunkland or BiH since they've been up (and I've been back) who've not only spewed the usual "OMG WTF NO rubber!!!!" or "I can't DB!" and crap, but even talk about "what a strange server" it is, or "this is weird," or "is this a new game mode?"


So, you win, Mecca. You wore me down. You and Liz can get together and pat each other on the backs about how you got the best of Phytotron.

Why is it such a bad thing that there are many new game modes?I really do not understand why you seem to be allergic to zones, scripts, and more than 5 rubber.

I will be posting on the wiki and here about LMS Tourney #1 after I get caught up with the Four Team Fortress Tourney, etc. I am still planning to run an LMS tourney that uses the settings that I have developed with the LMS Tourney Test Server. As other posters have stated, there really is no point in announcing a more than a couple weeks in advance.

gene had a server up with some pretty good settings for this. Me and Luffy and a few others enjoyed it this morning/afternoon. Let's try and get this going after the NA vs EU tournament and before the next WST, shall we?

That was my thought as well. I did adjust the scoring. Now its:
SCORE_KILL 0
SCORE_WIN 1
SCORE_SURVIVE 1
LIMIT_TIME 3

For those who have not tried it yet it is simply called, "Last Man Standing Test Server"
