International Stars Punish the Lakers.

Post by nicolas.b »

spurs are rolling, having won their 17th straight game and 2nd straight over the lakers. down 2-0, the series now shifts back to los angeles, where the lakers had better be desperate if they want to survive.

so far the lakers "fab four" of shaq, bryant, malone and payton has been disappointing as a unit. meanwhile, the international community has been coming together, so to speak:

Image
france's tony parker shoots 13/23 to rack up 30 pts, many of them during a crucial 4th quarter.

Image
argentina's manu ginobli shoots 6/8 for 15 pts and does his usual stellar job coming off the bench to provide rebounds, assists, defensive presssure and anything else the team needs.

Image
the virgin island's tim "the big fundamental" duncan gets it done in all areas, even shooting 10/14 from the FT lline to show why he's the league MVP of the last couple years.

Image
turkey's hedo turkoglu doesn't have his best night from the 3pt line, but continues to be a dangerous outside shooter with defensive length who does a little of everything.

Image
slovenia's rasho nesterovic, while being overmatched by shaq as most centers are, still makes enough smart fouls, defensive stops and open shots to prevent shaq from going hogwild. not too bad considering shaq was about the only thing working for the lakers this night.

Image
and good ol USA's bruce bowen threw a straight jacket on kobe bryant, making the game's premier one-on-one talent work for everything.

well, any team coached by zen master phil jackson has a shot, so we'll see how it goes...

Ignore if you dont like going of topic......

..... i love it when you guys use the terminology of "rooting for someone" ....

it has a completely different meaning in england and australia, a root is a f^&k and rooting is f%^&*#g, soooooooo anyway
i'g glad you are rooting for a sport rather than for a baby or pleasure ;)

btw, us aussies call it barraking for a team while the english use the opposite as in barraking against a team. I hope all this make your life more bearable by the knowledge you have learnt a very important lesson in something absolutely useless, other than, not looking like a d%^k when comming to oz ;)

i think this is all big misunderstanding, subby. :(

when i asked marrow if he was "rooting for anyone" i was trying to find out if he was being paid to have sex by anyone. it's true i then asked about a basketball team, but i really don't see the connection between the two. maybe you were just reading too fast or something...?

seriously, thanks... i enjoy reading about those differences in slang. someone from england told me today that something went together "about as well as chalk and cheese", which was also a new one on me. :)

lol nico & subby

i think it is logical that if i ever go dreamwalking in aussieland i should always say the upside down of what i'm trying to say - if i don't know the upside down word i'll just invent something resembling the sound of a digeridoo. i'm sure i'll get friendly with all the right ppl that way lol

well, i gots to hand it to the lakers.
they held serve on their own court
and evened up the series, 2-2.

Image
kobe was electric, pouring in 42 pts
with 6 boards and 5 assists.

Image
shaq was back in his unstoppable form,
with 28 pts, 14 boards, and 4 blocked shots.

but on a positive note, at least for me,
my new jersey nets played giant-killer,
taking down the feared detroit pistones
featuring the mighty wallaces, ben and rasheed.

Image
jay kidd racked up a triple-double with 22 pts, 10 boards, and 11 dimes.

Image
rising stars RJ had 19 pts and K-mart notched 16 and 15 boards.

Image
and kerry kittles chipped in with 14 pts and 5 dimes,
going against the dangerous rip hamilton
(doing his phantom of the opera impression).

(once again, thanks to NBA.COM for images)

EDIT: friggin tank!

n e w = "old beatup and turdy" now
