There's nothing made up about it—unless, that is, you believe that atoms are fictional.

Hmmm, hard to say. I did think wrtlprnft was older, but I thought he was 18. The one that surprised me was Luke-Jr, I thought he was mid-late 20s. Hmm, and I was off for Fonkay by a few years older (thought she was mid-20s). I think I already knew most of the rest, and have known for long enough that I don't remember if I was surprised.

Oh yeah, I thought nemo was waaay closer to my age, like even the same graduating year from High School.

Now, some of the locations surprised me. :) I thought nemo was in New Jersey for real. maybe he just switches back and forth and he really was in NJ at one time. And I thought 2020 was English, no idea he was a Scot.

Of course, I suspect that deep down inside iceman really lives on the Isle of Man and he just doesn't want to tell us for fear we'll eat his cats.

It might have to do with the 'field' many of us are in.

Yea.. He got me too.. I thought Jonathan would've gratuaded for secondary school (called VWO in his example i think)...

But for the rest, SO MANY 30's and end 20's :o

And 13-15 billion what? :P He doesn't say years or seconds (Though 13 billion seconds would be 400 years :P) But it could also be as far as milli or even nano seconds :P

The age of the individual atoms in years that make up his body. One could be nitpicky and define the age as the time which the atom's parts have spent together and arrive at some picoseconds instead :) Or state that there is no such thing as an individual atom and that age does not make sense at all for them.
