the Final Final Final lightcycle!

Post by edd »

sorry for all the posts, but i was just looking at the model again and spotted some obvious polygons i could delete. The cycle is now 397 polygons with some extra detail. I have also made a slight modification to the map image making to add the lines of the canopy and show the different shades of colour from the top of the cycle to the side panels. The top is slightly lighter.

I definately can not reduce the polygons any further (honest!!!!).

Hope my constant tinkering is not too anoying.

Ok I lied!

I have reduced the poly count to 356 polygons.

It looks the same as the image above.

a question...

Post by 2020 »

hi
ed

i love your renditions
though i was wondering if you could listen to an idea i've always had

i love the Tron-design
though i always liked the idea of a line-thick back wheel
don't know why
but the whole thing is virtual anyway
i mean
the front turbine wheel would crash into things all-over-the-place
so
it is all about image:
and the back wheel always smacked of something unnecessarily practical -
perhaps it was set that way because of the bit in tron
when a wheel bounces away from a crash

anyhooo
a line=thin back wheel
fits in with the light-trail behind
should reduce polygons
and may even clean-up the image till it becomes razoer-sharp

what do you think...?
have you had similar ideas...?
hold the line

back wheel

Post by edd »

Hi 2020

I could modify the cycle to fit you request if you like. I am not sure if I get exactly what you mean, but do you mean just a single thin cylinder or a tube (like a tyre)? If you could maybe draw what you want I will modify a cycle for you. As for me, I love the lightcycle as it is. In fact I would like to increase the number of plygons to improve the look of it, but what can I say I have always been a big fan of all things tron.

the back wheel is just a disc
no thickness

and yes
i love the tron bike design
though i think this could look even...
nah
still worth a try

paper-thin disc
the opposite of the frontwheel
hold the line

new cycle info

Iceman:

I am getting between 50 and 60 fps with 8 opponents, so it seems fine for me. I am not sure how this compares to the original. But I think most machines should cope with this too.

2020:

I will post a 'skinny wheel' cycle for you in the next couple of days! can't say more than that!
