is there a way i can get my version of armagetron dedicated server to allow other clients other then 2.8.0 versions?

You changed CYCLE_ACCEL_SLINGSHOT (or another setting, I'm not really sure if that one breaks compatibility), right? You should see a warning in the server console about older clients. See settings.cfg:"backward network compatibility"

Some settings are not available in older versions, so if you change them the server will block out older versions. Many of them have a second setting which is that setting with "_OVERRIDE" appended. If you set this older clients can come in but will behave weird possibly.
