i have been playing in the "RaceToWinzone" Server many times last week and this week.
very very fun, fast! mazy! deathzone!
it also requires setting technique of custom cam,other details settings. i just call it a technique.
the rubber is just for reach the goal.
hmm i think there are more considerable parts of rubber setting and acceleration setting.
nvm, i can die at a nasty deathzone.
it would be more fun that if there were a tiny tiny shortcut cource and more mazy maps,
and like cycle_accel_rim=-1 or something for acceleration if it works for clients with newer versions. just a example.

well, why is my rim texture gonna look so ugly and noizy in this server?
i like to play in here with incam. it's also fun. let us turn internal camera on.

hey you guys, i found a cheat with this serve.
once yo hit "Chat" key and turn it back sooner or later while you get accelerated or running,
then you can get awsome faaaaast speed for a while.
i found that when i played with some players got faster than me.
they waited me till i started to run, i thought they failed to start running,
but soon they increased their speed more faster than me, and i couldn't reach them.
maybe, is chatbot a technique? or "Chat" key is nitro fuel?

I like that server, too. I have some problems with it, tough:
1. The maps with many columns in the middle of the lane are very slow on my machine. Slow, like in 5 to 10 FPS. It is a little hard to steer ...
2. It once happened that two zones were blocking the entire width of the lane. Made for an intersting situation when both alien and i noticed and stopped in front of the impossible obstacle ... I assume this is fixed since it happened only once, but you never know ...
3. bad ping in combination with cycle tails ... suddenly you are at a different location because you ran into the other's wall ... with luck, some noob hits a deathzone and leaves a tail guiding the others to it, too.
Oh, an alternative way to prevent people turboing all the time would be a depleting turbo (with recharge, of course). That way, people would have to decide where to make the most of the turbo they get ...

i hit it about 10 times in a round. damn
2. yea i know it still happened sometimes, but i haven't see it happen for these days. maybe it's fixed.

another thing, i boxed myself with walls_length 30, and no way to exit.
i don't remember the value now but i think cycle_delay is too short.
as Kamp, philippeqc and others said, we are going to be just speed addicts. yeah it's still fun.

and sky texture, i realized that sky texture should contain alpha channel.
even most people don't use displaying sky, sometimes we forget to turn it off.
cuz using custom cam with some settings, like CAMERA_CUSTOM_RISE_FROMSPEED is set to higher value,
our view is out of the sky floating above the texture when we get high speed.
so we cannot know what is going on if it doesn't contains alpha channel. so i need to make one for me.
*this is about textures.

i use smart cam and custom cam switching between it occasionally if i want to look around.
i donnt like lowered wall with custom cam, so once i set CAMERA_VISIBILITY_LOWER_WALL to 0.
this setting has problem with doing something near at rim.
now i set it back to 1, added alpha channel to the rim wall textures,
and set BUG_TRANSPARENCY_DEMAND to 1.
this works fine for me with custom cam.
i'll try to test this texture in RaceToWinzone server what is going on with it.

The currently active map on the server, rtw_16_291.xml, appears to be an HTML file 

Because the maps are so huge, this causes accuracy problems. Have you tried using rc3? The texture coordinates passed to the card should be more managable there.CoffeeTeeCat wrote: i donno why rim texture is gonna be noisy in this server.

ah that's why i couldn't load maps and failed to connect to your server.
well, i was playing in this server right now.
there are a few maps more mazier than before!
it has several paths, tiny lane and quick corners, so we should turn turbo off
and go through it. i like it

ah i see. i have not used rc3 yet. i still have a basic problem to build my own client program, you know.
i'm too lazy to fix it now though, i'll be waiting for nemo's work.
huhu i need to delete those rtw maps from my startup disk.
P.S. ah rim wall textures don't seem to be contained alpha channel necessary.
i removed alpha channel from the textures and then tried to set BUG_TRANSPARENCY_DEMAND to 1.
it also works fine for me. the rim textures displayed as transparency walls.

and my fps went up from 10 to 20-30 at complex fields like poles centered at the middle of lane.
