Why don't we have a no-confidence vote?

Seems awfully nice to be able to vote your government out any time you think they suck and have new elections.

It only happens when there's a minority government (i.e. the ruling party holds less seats than all of the other parties combined). If the Liberals had been elected to a majority then they wouldn't have been toppled, as they'd be able to cast enough votes to shoot down such a motion.

we have that built into the declaration of independence sort of. whenever a goverment becomes destructive of these ends it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it.

It'd be pretty neat to have a referendum at this point as to whether or not to keep this regime in power
Happened in california, to put Shwarzenegger in power... i'm not at all sure how to spell his name. And I, personally, wouldn't trust a Congress no-confidence vote just because it's Congress. Referendum would be neater, and better.

Doesn't matter to me, either way. I don't watch much TV, nor do I give a damn about Christmas. I tend to get my news fix on the Internet.

Celebrate would be a bit too much to say, but we mostly respected it. Bought two buns at the bakery. Well, one of the given dates. Seems like there is no real consensus on when it should be :)

Yes, sometimes I read that. But with care :) I don't trust them any more than I would trust FOX News (note, I don't get FOX here and I'd be damned if I read their website, so I work on hearsay here), they're just the opposite side. Left-wing sensationalism, but they bring up important issues every once in a while.

We call it FAUX News here. :D

Buy Nothing Day. Rah. We observe that many days. We have this wacko view that modest living and frugality are virtues.

Kill Your TV Day is another good day.

GNN. Meh. Kinda like indymedia. I ignore them. I prefer commondreams.org or alternet, or any of the various established left-wing rags (The Nation, Harper's, In These Times, etc.).

Scope, you don't buy something every day!? :o

I dunno, the blogs on gnn are generally more fun to read than their actual headlines, the movies are aight too, some nice slam poetry and the like
