The first build is here: https://download.armagetronad.org/blog/2026/03/12/build-beta-0.2.9.3_beta_z3167/
(Yeah, in addition to search being disabled, I can't post links as links...)
The reason for this sudden start of a new release process is that we had fixes required for upcoming Ubuntu 26.04 only on the legacy_0.2.9 branch, and they were too spread out to easily cherry-pick.
One thing I probably will do on this branch: the uploads to launchpad are in a messy place right now, because our customize script requires Python 2, and the official scripts are lacking and simply can't work in CI. So I'll take the latest script and customize it again.
What also MIGHT happen in this cycle, maybe not for 0.2.9.3.0, is that the macOS builds get bumped to the arm architecture. I got a MacBook Air M1 for that. My plan was to do that only later this year, but rumor has it Apple is going to start warning folks about x64 code sooner rather than later. And there is this RAM, CPU and Storage price crisis... it does not yet affect the used computer market very much, but that is bound to change. I'll have to see how I handle the two architectures; ideally, I'll be able to bundle them into one. The build methods I use so far do not support cross compilation and cannot produce universal binaries in one go. I'll try something different on the M1, but making separate builds and mushing them together is an option.
