First game in an age... still buzzing a day later

Post by 2020 »

Thanks again Z-man et al. An amazing game.

Joe who I introduced Tron to when he was 6 maybe, now 11, invited me to a game yesterday. We loved it. Dog-fight server. Strange settings, not particularly fast, but very manageable. Much better for noobs perhaps.

Amazing game for the reasons I saw the first time I experienced it back in 2005:
  • minimal barrier to entry, at least basic gameplay -- two keys!
  • download and play online immediately (though with passwords etc, a bit tedious
  • fortress settings generating a superlative team dynamic
  • self-organised ladle competitions which ran for 7 years... though it seems to have dropped off
Elegant. Minimal. 'Tetris on crack' one of my team-mates put it. Stands the test of time in terms of game-play. Classic.

Watched a few videos, eghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zfh0RFX ... vA&index=6. Low resolution, sure, but amazing play shines through. Amazing that you guys provided recording and playback. Joe wants to produce some now. He's 11, I'm sure he will give up -- the changing of camera angles within the recording playback was arduous, if I remember correctly.

So, thanks again. I'm focussing on a startup which has bled me completely dry over the last three years. My final attempt at getting a version of the web-app out there in the real world by October. Business, raising finance, getting right partnership of coders & business partners, is a major slog. But I must say, playing this game yesterday and reviving my enthusiasm for this game -- what a great soft-launch use-case this might be.

Such a good game.

Depends if "dogfight" or "d.o.g.f.i.g.h.t". lol

Probably the latter. I never understood why they were named so similarly anyway.
