Ladle 100andsomething ;D

Post by stereo »

In this thread we will work on organizing a Ladle before no old players check in to play....
This post will be updated.

Work to do (Assign the work to urself if you want :D ):

1.) Organizing Wikipedia Page
2.) Check for Ladle Servers (if not, who has spare server power to host one?)
3.) Advertising in Servers as well as IRC and forums (Spread the word!)
4.) Clans that might be able to play:
R, m&m, Ww, *|*, /%, ct, °°,, Open team
5.) Ladle without clans?
We could f.e. create a Ladle ranking for Players to host Ladle without clans but random teams, but for this first Ladle we should stick to clans and an open team.
Also we would need a ranking script.
6.) Training aka Pickup Serverbot
We could train and meet in Pickup... So who can run a server bot?

I should be able to run any IRC bot but uptime is not guaranteed.

I can run any IRC bot that can run in Linux with a higher guaranteed uptime, but maintenance and updates to it will be slow because of my busy schedule.

I have a simple bot that can be used for Ladle. Right now all it does is make teams out of players. We stopped randomizing/seeding Ladle teams after switching to double elimination, which is what the ladle-bot (randomteam) was primarily used for. We used my bot for the last Ladle, which consisted of about 16 random players and no teams.

Sounds great stereo, maybe we should just do random teams, because many clans and teams don't have enough players that are actif to have even a basic minimum amount of a team. 0.o

It would be good to see the Ladle revived. I'm not sure that I can participate though because my client still crashes too often.

So if Clans / Teams won´t sign up enough players: How we gonna handle it?
Options: Random Teams or Teamleaders that can roundwise pick players (like pickup)

And if we do Teamleaders: Randomize teamleaders like in pickup or do it like: ppl who sing up as teamleaders?

Do we really want to do it like winning team can proceed or do it like if there are more than 3 teams:

Team a vs b then c then d and Teams that win at least two matches can proceed to finals? Would be more time intense but fun as well since Fort is pretty much dead. Yes - No? Once the vote about the date passed out on Jan 31 and the date will be known, ill do a poll on this one.
And update the first post. Thanks @ vov for editing wikipage and alphaproject hosting us in eu und us. Maybe Two Server are enough, maybe they arent. :<

@Nelg
I'm pretty sure it's a software issue.

Software issues can happen because of certain hardware.

Yes, well, I'm pretty sure it's either a graphics driver issue or a threading issue, neither of which I can sort out at the moment. Anyway, Z-Man's work may have dramatically reduced the number of times I crash. I'll test out the latest code and report back here.

R can totally organize a team and then forget about it and have no one show up. I'll get started on it right now
