It looks decent, but doesn't seem like anything too special. Just another regular FPS game. It's not even really anything special looking as far as Linux FPS games go. Being free, it may be worth trying out though.

If you think ut is just another fps, you must be much younger than I. Go install ut99, hundreds of people still playing, games from 99. Well, that patch is.

Every fps you have played since then took thier forumular, and bastardized it. I can take 30 people at once, can you?

Q3 fears ut, for good reason, but that likely makes no sense to a youngin like you.

Q3TA was one of my favorite FPS games. Doubt it's still living though. :/ Just because they all tend to use the same ideas doesn't mean we don't have too much of the same thing. At this point, Linux could use a COD game more than this. Since it don't seem to have anything new, yes, I consider it "just another FPS game".

Q3 lives on in the form of QuakeLive... UT lives on in the form of UT2k4, UT3, and now UT4. What was always particularly special about UT over Quake I think were better physics and qay more scriptability. Go double-dodge jump go!

It was also about twice as fast and had perfect weapon balance. Better maps too. UTS default speed setting is much faster than any other fps, and no one played it that slow cept noobs.

Every single weapon in UT is lethal as ****, even the one you start with. My two favorite weapons are the airhammer and the translocator.

TELEFRAG.

Also, ut2k3/4 etc are garbage, the first ut is still played en masse. Its the good one. Install it and hit multiplayer, they dont even a **** if its pirated anymore.

This is why im not allowed to snipe anymore

And this is why I cant use the teleporter.

Im pretty much relegated to the goo gun and the link gun.

And just for the insanity (its been ported to the best ut, but I cant find the video)

Call me nostalgic, but you are food. Though since I play it more than tron, its prolly not nostalgia.

Dual enforcers or the minigun for me in UT99. I'll have to admit being way more into UT2k4 though, that's the one I started playing seriously with. All hail instagib shock rifles. That and while UT99 is fast, the extra dodge combinations in 2k4 let you do amazing shit.

the exact same dodges work in ut99. double any direction. Where do you think they learned it from?

Double jump by default, quad if you turn it on. Low grav is fun too.

As for the new one, you can play it right now, its quite good as is, and its still basically alpha. Just hit that link, sign up, and hit download.

Im /dev/null / Meatfucker there as well if anyone bothers to play.

The double-dodge-jump though was only in 2k4. This let you move so fast through maps compared to just double-dodging because you get ground clearance and go flying. At the same time, if you use it wrong you're going in a straight line in mid-air and are easy to hit.

If you like the old one, you should try the new one, its pretty awesome.

I ******* hated 2k3/4 and ut3. I have nothing but praise for this one.

I've seen the some of the videos before, I have to agree that it looks really good. I'm waiting a bit for it to get easier to run and maps more polished before I try it out. All hail DM-Deck... 18 at this point?
