Feature Request! Its not jackass either!
Allow us to leave the scoreboard up while on chatbot. Its useful while you are idling in a server waiting for someone to join in case you miss their join message.
Re: Feature Request! Its not jackass either!
You mean toggle tab?
Re: Feature Request! Its not jackass either!
Dunno what you mean by that, but probably: Yes. And it's already active on the 0.2.8 code branch and the -alpha builds and on 0.4 since probably ages. The scoreboard does not go away between rounds or when you chat, only when something is really going to collide with it. And you can toggle it with tab while you chat because really, we don't have a use for tabs in chat. Previously, it was kind of daft.ConVicT wrote:You mean toggle tab?

If I have the scoreboard up on windows, linux, and mac, on 2.8. if I hit the chat button, it goes poof. If I have the chatbot up, and hit the scoreboard button, it pulls me out of chatbot.
I dunno what you guys are smoking, but it works like that on the default install on every single system ive installed it on, and its at least hundreds.

I don't ever remember it stopping my chat-bot (I will check) but what's the big deal anyway? who just watches the scoreboard and chats? Even if they did, wouldn't that get in the way of chat text?

Could it be possible that something else if affecting these differences?I dunno what you guys are smoking
As I recall, TAB behaves like Z-Man described.
I just went to test it, and I couldn't replicate what was described; yet I specifically remember being able to do that. (all on 0.2.8 )
Is it possible that the OS or keyboard BIOS may have something to do with the different behaviors?
I might do some more testing between my devices and OSs to find out.
I understand the purpose though. The point is being able to roam around as a chatbot (not running into walls) while still keeping an eye on the TAB screen (in case someone pops in without the server saying they entered as spectator, you can catch them before they leave thinking you're just afk).
Makes sense if someone just wants to chill on autopilot until someone joins.
Re: Feature Request! Its not jackass either!
Possible, but unlikely. It's just that he is using exclusively the STABLE builds, so 0.2.8.3.2 currently, where the scoreboard often vanishes for no good reason, like if you chat. That only changed on the 0.2.8 branch after 0.2.8.3 was branched and feature locked, so it's only going to enter a stable release on 0.4.Durf wrote:Could it be possible that something else if affecting these differences?I dunno what you guys are smoking
Re: Feature Request! Its not jackass either!
Yea it turns out I was using 0.2.8.3.1 on my netbook, not 0.2.8.3.2.
Re: Feature Request! Its not jackass either!
So wait, I have to use the builds with weird rubber to get this functionality, Im screwed then.
Woe is me I guess.
On second check, im running 2.8.3.2 and none of the shit you said works. So... yeah. The last unstable build I bothered with was the 3 series, and that was so bad Im not ever gonna run your testing builds again. They make me wonder what they are testing besides our patience.

Re: Feature Request! Its not jackass either!
I SAID THE IMPROVEMENT WAS NOT ON 0.2.8.3.2.
And yes, to get new features, you need to use new builds. I don't know how you would expect it to be otherwise. If you want, I can dig out the changes required and you can make your own build of 0.2.8.3.X with just this feature added.
You need to say what specifically is weirder about the rubber relative to 0.2.8.3.2, I am not aware of any changes that should be significant.

Re: Feature Request! Its not jackass either!
If you played tron you would quickly understand why we dont use those jokebuilds.
Re: Feature Request! Its not jackass either!
Ah. Try setting CYCLE_RUBBER_SPEED to your FPS times 2/3 (actually ln(2)) and all the CYCLE_RUBBER_MINDIST* to 0. On the server, of course.

From the Ubuntu repository: 0.2.8.3.2 ...
Chat then TAB = nothing happens, remains in chat.
TAB then chat = exits scoreboard to chat.
