World Cup thread
So World cup is starting in a bit, and i open this thread for those people exited like me who wants talk about it.
today is playing Brasil and Croatia, I think it will be a great match Croatia can go as far as Modric and Rakitic level is (Manzukic is missing this game which is a big loss). Brasil have probably the best defense of the world cup but the attack is not power house like it used to be, anyway they have Neymar and Hulk which is damn fast.
enjoy the whole month!!!!!!

Re: World Cup thread
There is something very wrong in this game (I'm not watching it, I just heard a bit).
Knowing that the whole defense of Brazil is playing yearly for the same club in Paris, they should have crazy team play and dominate, but apparently they took a goal... Social pressure?

brazil might have a good attacking coming from defense, but they are not a good defending team. if croatia had anyone who could score, rakitic and modric would have had a lovely time with all that space in center midfield.

Yes, however he's probably not even met his team mates in that context yet, let alone had time to gel, so the point is moot.
Re: World Cup thread
Ok then, everything can happen, yet:

gahh this match reminded me why I stopped watching football..
Re: World Cup thread
yea brazil defended poorly, but they have the skill do to some great defense. I love how modric plays, but today oscar did better than i expected
Re: World Cup thread
Oscar was a beast, definitely MVP in my eyes. Great offensively, and also good defensive work.orion wrote:today oscar did better than i expected
Neymar didn't do an awful lot besides his first goal which was really good, but only possible because Oscar did an awesome job keeping the ball against (was it 3?) Croatians before passing it to Neymar. The penalty shot was pretty bad, more or less perfect height for the keeper, who should save that at least 9/10 times given that he goes the right way, which he did.
The own goal was just really bad luck depending on a lot of factors. There was no way to move the left foot in order for the ball not to hit it (without doing some ninja maneuver), and there was too little time to react properly with the right foot. His attempt was correct in my opinion, and the odds for it resulting in an own goal are pretty high. Bad luck.
Man, not being a ninja sucks.
The penalty decision was suspicious (as I'm sure nobody disagrees with), and the situation that should've been Croatia's 2nd goal was as well, from what I can remember. But it can't be easy being the referee of the opening match of a World Cup and besides the penalty I think he did a splendid job.
