There are... many... graphic design issues on your site. You should revisit the visual hierarchy because there doesn't appear to be any.

First order of business is to lose the background or replace it with something more tame so it highlights the banner and navigation you spent so much time on. Currently there is no definition between any of the elements. Second order of business is to reconsider the size, placement, and contrast of every element on your page, and even within graphical elements (for example, the text inside the buttons gets lost and hard to read).

One thing you can do is start your design in black and white or grayscale then add color later. If it looks good in black and white adding color is easy! For example, I have compared your site with the Speeders forum. I took each page and made a grayscale thumbnail of each. The Speeders site is still recognizable as a forum and you can see all the elements and navigation clearly. The RF site, however, just looks like noise at this resolution. That is a problem.

Here is what I am saying: Reconsider the visual hierarchy of your site. This usually means more important elements are larger and/or higher contrast, and items reduce with importance.

Here is what I am NOT saying: Your site should look like Speeders. However, there is definitely be a middle ground to be reached between your style and what is considered effective design.
