yea I was told that the tournament was at 2:15 and when I checked time table on signup deadline date, it indeed was at 2:15.

Funny that I log on at 1:30 and the tournament is going on. #FakeBitches

This tourney has potential but some stuff could be done better next time:

- Timetable was fixed less than a day before the tournament (it used summer times, was very damn confusing). Overrated even posted here about it half a week earlier but it hadn't been fixed. This in conjunction with the above poster's temper lead to the first match in kite's server being f'd by ragequits and hostilities.
- New matches could not be started by command by team leaders, we had to do the old suicide for 18 rounds thing. This doesn't break it but it's an annoyance. We even had trouble starting a match with a "bouncer" (admin?) connected and in spectator mode.
- I heard that on one server 2 teams had the same colour.

Other than that I had some fun so it's all good :P
Matches still being played, glhf to those!

Well it wasn't the exact same colour, just two different shades of red. They were easily distinguishable though

Bad points:
Tournament management
  • bad timetables
  • late confgiurations
  • confusing team colors
  • poor authentication settings
Good points:
  • Single 18 round match with top 2 advancing makes it easier to determine winners
  • Round-based play keeps the tournament mostly on schedule
  • The event moves quickly and doesn't run too long
I think this was a great lauch to the Shovel. The bugs are minor and easily fixed.

we need more global admins, ones that actually involve themselves instead of going afk. that being said, gz q & b for taking it home!

Yeah, again, I had planned my schedule around 2:15 then a couple days before someone told me it was 1:15. It's kind of annoying when that happens.

Similar Colors: This was due to an oversight in the settings.

Code: Select all

#lime
team_name_3 "Team Lime"
team_red_4 9
team_blue_4 1
team_green_4 99
#strawberry-red
team_name_4 "Team Elmo"
team_red_4 100
team_blue_4 3
team_green_4 0
I'm assuming team 3 was still the default team color since the settings excluded it.

Team Leader commands:
The following command will be added to the Shovel cfg.

Code: Select all

ACCESS_LEVEL START_NEW_MATCH 7

Player Attendance:
I can't force people to show up, nor will I have much more involvement with future Shovels. All I can do is suggest consequences for players who do not attend, or leave prior to the match ending.

Timetable:
I'm not sure where I got confused with this, to be honest I never even considered it after the page was created. Thanks to vov for fixing it, hopefully it won't be an issue in the future.

Congrats to blondie and quantic, good matches everyone.

There were some issues but nothing that can't be fixed for the next shovel. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the rules on the wiki:
wiki wrote:Teams meet at the designated servers and play first to 2 won matches
This is incorrect; I'm guessing that this was copied from the Ladle rules.

Anyway, the tournament was fun and a good experience. I hope it will continue and go from strength to strength.

GZ to Concord/Blondie and Pyrrhic/Quantic.

The configs weren't put up in time for me to do anything. I work 12-hour days, so I wasn't home to update it last second. I tried posting about it but didn't get a response in time.

I guess, hopefully next time it's more ready in advanced.

Well I was kind of super late with fixing the timetable because I didn't read the forums and didn't see over's post :p
