There's also FightCode. It's using Javascript to code a bot with a given framework.

Then, the Java version of it, Robocode.

I've seen Core Wars before, but never bothered with it. Figured it would be dead most likely, but FightCode actually has a little activity on it.

I am definitely gonna check that out. I find it difficult to find games like this. Maybe people could list some of their favorites if they play any? Maybe it's a little off topic, but I think it's a much funner use of the thread.

It's not off-topic, IMO. I didn't know about Fightcode and Vindinium.

Bear in mind that Vindinium is somewhat reminiscent of Dungeons and Dragons. It's not as graphical as you might expect.

I noticed that when I went to check it out. The other games listed here are more graphical, which I'd prefer. I find it more fun to see what's going on.

Duude, Core Wars is OLD. So old that I read about it before I even had a computer. On stuff we used to call "paper". Played it without a computer, too. Wrote a worm that would kidnap the enemy processes, let them do the work and then suicide. That's what we considered fun. You kids bla bla bla.
