Ladle 77 Voting Thread | CLOSED

Post by sinewav »

This thread is a follow up to our discussion about the future of Fortress. Very little came out of it and no ideas were tested. The only real debate was about seeding so let us restrict the vote to this single topic.

For those unfamiliar with a Ladle vote or need to refresh their memory, read this. Basically, you take the issue to your individual clan/team forums and return here with a single vote. Only teams signed up on the Challenge Board get a vote, and only Team Leaders (or designated representatives) may post here. This is not a discussion thread. Voting closes at 18:00 GMT on 9-January.

Here are the choices:

Seeding: 4 Seeds (current) | 2 Seeds | 1 Seed* | No Seeds

* The 1 Seed rule would guarantee a bye to the previous Ladle winner when a bye is available.

Highest number of votes wins. In case of a tie, no changes will be made. Note: changes to seeding will not take place until Ladle 78.

Rogue Tronners votes for 0 seeds.

Not sure how you can go wrong with 0 seeds or 1 seed, however.

RD vote: 2 seeds (very close up: 0 seeds)

with only 5 (6) voters definitely one of the laziest though :X

So if I didn't mess up, it looks like RD's vote came in just in time.

The tally is:
4 seeds: 1
2 seeds: 3
1 seed: 2
no seeds: 4

So the winner (the median) is 1 seed.

Yes I said highest vote wins. But afterwards, in the discussion thread, owned pointed out that the median would be a better measure if the winner wasn't rock solid. In this case, I would say the median is the best choice. According to the results, we have clearly moved away from 4 seeds but a majority of the community still likes the idea of some sort of seeding or at least a reward for the top team(s). Having one seed sounds like the best compromise. That means the Ladle winners are guaranteed a bye when one is available. Coincidentally, this eliminates the original problem of Ladle finalists meeting in the opening round, which was the main motivator for seeding years ago! I think everyone wins with this choice. :)

Can we agree the median (1 seed) is the most appropriate?

ID was more interested in keeping the seeds lower, but not erased.

So 1 is probably fine with us.
