Because it's a common, old trope against women; the perpetuation of an offensive and damaging stereotype. You know, like women falling down in romantic comedies, or the evil demon seductress. It's such a pervasive and casually bandied-about slight that many people don't even recognize it as such—it's just assumed women are like that, right? Or at least a sizable category of them, because, after all, women can be easily placed into just a few categories, like bitches and ho's, or these. Or in this case, the Banshee. And it's not directed at a specific, individual girl—although it does carry a specific racial stereotype. Rather, it's directed at the general, generic "girl"—any female. That's why it was created as a "meme," so unthinking trogs can have it on hand for regular use. It's like an "I'm with stupid" t-shirt where "stupid" is always a female.
