Codename poll part three
Codename poll part three
There were some late entries to the polls, so here they come. The best of these will be included in the final poll.
I'd also like you to vote on BOTH of the old codename polls now, I noted the current standings. The Gods have secured a place in the final poll for being the favorites so far (They got three votes, more than any other option).

in a lite fashion...
Humm, I have to dissagree with this proceeding, it give too much power to the late entries.
10 entries sharing 6 votes in the first
6 entries sharing 7 votes in the second
3 entries expecting ~5 votes in the third
Why not close the pool and set in the 8 contenders that have cumulated votes in the 2 first series, and complete with the late entries, and just set a quicker deadline.
(This process seems sooooooooooooooooo long.... Next, we will have to decide how to populate the selected list! I just want to be able to use them for the roadmap ;) )

Edit: Rant rant rant! I'm just ranting! dont listen to me

Sorry about the long deadline of the first two polls, that was clearly suboptimal. I was baffled by the sudden appearance of the poll option limit on this board.
As for the advantage: We won't be comparing the three polls running now with each other*. The best from each poll will be put against each other in the final poll. The late entries have an andvantage because there's only three of them, but the final poll makes it rather irrelevant. If the favorite option here is junk, it will get crushed later.
There is no such thing as the perfect voting mechanism if there's more than two candidates (mathematically proven if I remember correctly), even the option that gets the least votes in the first run may be the most desirable end result.
*: Since I asked people to only vote on either poll one or poll two and the Gods had the most total votes, they rightfully earn a place in the finals. It made sense there to compare absolute vote counts from both polls.
Edit: Is it possible to see when a poll closes?

Heh, when it's time to populate the list, I suggest someone just do it. Then post the list, andphilippeqc wrote: (This process seems sooooooooooooooooo long.... Next, we will have to decide how to populate the selected list! I just want to be able to use them for the roadmap)
Code: Select all
foreach(release):
nextCodename = askeverybodywhichonetheywant()
print nextCodename

Yeah, let's do that.z-man wrote:If this is taking too long, we can always call the upcoming release "aardvark". No cooler code name around, and certainly first in the alphabet in any listThe themed codenames can start with the next release.

4 items in the roadmap are now under the "aardvark" group:
-Replay capacity
-Network code refactoring
-resource management server (IIRC, luke said he waited for Tank for something)
-favorites servers
All of these items are "open"
There is 1 bug that is also on this group:
-Negative maps coordinates crash on x86_64
Anyone that has a mac could verify and close
-[ 1203448 ] Need Admin Privileges on Mac OS X
