Gorillaz has 2 failures: they sing more rap than rock and that sucks, and they are commertial too. But, something commertial is not necessarily bad. I found yours just bad, no offence lol.

Bill Haley - Blue Moon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQmgVxzZ47M

And if you like playing guitar, what do you say about this solo in the middle-end?

It's a spanish song, Spain got good rock bands too :)

Extremoduro & Marea - Corazón de Mimbre http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meO_JpGzP6Y (practice spanish phyto so we can have some real discussion ;) )

BTW i liked the last song you posted quite a lot clutch.

Here, just read the Wikipedia page for now, and look up the players mentioned. Like I said earlier, as far as I'm concerned you can pretty much quit in the early 60's, with some exceptions.

This guy's Amazon list ain't half bad, either.

"Weird Al" Yankovic - Money For Nothing/Beverly Hillbillies*
As the story goes, as a condition of allowing Al to parody the song, Mark Knopfler insisted on recording the guitar part himself.

Bill Haley - Blue Moon
What is this? It's blocked in my country and Bill Haley and the Comets never recorded Blue Moon.

Hey, speaking of classic rock-n-roll and Spanish, I would be remiss if I didn't post La Bamba and Wooly Booly, right? (OK, they're Mexican, and Valens could barely speak Spanish, but hey.) I remember when I was 7 years old, thinking for a time that La Bamba was the best song in the world. I discovered it in this big stack of old '45s we had—I spun the heck out of that thing, wore it out.

También: Los Teen Tips, Los Blue Caps, Los Locos del Ritmo, y Los Straightjackets.

By the way, the word is spelled commercial, with a C.

Well it's weird because it doesn't appear in wikipedia but you can try to download it somewhere and try it. Idk if it's trully from Bill Haley but it seems so since I can find it both in youtube and google under the name "Bill Haley Blue Moon"

La Bamba is indeed a classic song, i've heard it since I was a child. The second one isn't spanish lol. They wear turbans lol.
I couldn't find a song of "Los Teen Tips". "Los Blue Caps" is not spanish, more like south american rubbish songs, and I also hated what I found (paste some link and we'll see if they can do something good). "Los Locos del Ritmo" are not bad, they have some rhythmic songs (that's where the name comes from "ritmo"), but are also not spanish, I'd say mexican. And "Los Straitjackets"* (not Straightjackets) are also good. I don't know where they are from though.

Othx.

Some good rock and roll and ¡nowadays! songs in spanish:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6N_nB3UnuWo Vetusta Morla - Valiente
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mfrfAz1S3Q Love of Lesbian - Dios por Dios es cuatro (search the lyrics and translate the best you can).

PS: lol nice one Word.

Already did the Googling before my prior post. My bet is someone misattributed it. Listen to this version: Blue Moon - The Marcels. I wouldn't be surprised if it's this one. And if so, that's not only not Bill Haley, it's actually doo-wop, not rock'n'roll. :)

 Sam the Sham, and half the Pharaohs, were Mexican, like I said.

Probably because that was a typo. Should be "Tops."
"Los Blue Caps" is not spanish, more like south american rubbish songs....
 They're Mexican, and you know, "spanish" is also a language, not just a nationality. But yeah, I should have looked up their stuff before I posted it. I saw them listed with a few other early Latino/Chicano rock'n'roll groups with whom I was familiar, and so assumed they'd be similar. Nope. And yep, it's pretty awful, though I wouldn't say it's a particularly South American sound, but rather typical of late-60's/early-70's soft rock crap, just with a vaguely "latin" rhythm.
"Los Locos del Ritmo" are not bad, they have some rhythmic songs (that's where the name comes from "ritmo"), but are also not spanish, I'd say mexican.
 Mexicans speak spanish, dude. Do you have some sort of resentment toward the people of the former imperial territories?
And "Los Straitjackets"* (not Straightjackets) are also good. I don't know where they are from though.
Easy way to find out, you know: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Straitjackets

Yeah I guess it's that one, but the version I posted is slightly different, could be a cover.

And yeah I guess your right. I meant groups from spain. Not "spanish" songs.

If it has the "bom-bom-ba-bom... fa-dang-a-dang-dang, fa-ding-a-dong-ding ... dip-da-dip-da-dip" then it's more than likely The Marcels. In fact, most other renditions you'll hear are as a ballad, not doo-wop. I think the only other (notable) group to do a doo-wop rendition (in fact, a straight cover of The Marcels' version) were Sha Na Na, who recorded it for the soundtrack to the movie, Grease.

There are several web pages—for example, this one—that have an mp3 of "Blue Moon" incorrectly attributed to Bill Haley, but that's The Marcels, no question. I don't know what's up with that (many of those sites appear to be non-American), but I'm tellin' ya, Bill Haley and the Comets never recorded "Blue Moon."

Zap, I'm not sure whether you've ever heard of the Traveling Wilburys (not "Travelling Willburies"!!). I thought of that because they had a song named New Blue Moon. Every Beatles fan will like them, but they're soo 80s, and the songs all sound the same (not always bad though). I waited for years to get a copy of at least one of their albums, and was lucky to get one when they re-released the albums after it was used as soundtrack for some Ben Stiller movie like 2 years ago. I wouldn't know a single song of them if we hadn't some old audiocassettes...they recorded the first album during one week in Bob Dylan's kitchen iirc
Dirty World (the funniest song besides "The Devil's been busy")
Inside Out
Handle With Care
End Of The Line

And apart from that, i'm still in my Grateful Dead phase :)

Nope I didn't know them. They sound a little bit like Bob Dylan, specially on the first song you've posted. Like 'em :)

That's because it IS Bob Dylan. The other members were George Harrison, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra), Jim Keltner, and Roy Orbison, who died shortly before the second album was finished.
