armagetron Recording --> Youtube

Post by premaDpG »

So i have been wanting to get a couple of recordings of games/tourneys onto youtube. The problem is I have nop clue how to do it. I know armagetron gives it's own recording, but do i have to download anything else to convert it to a youtube compatible file?

Can someone give me the basics of getting a armagetron recording onto youtube.

thanks!!

I think you have to record the aarec with some other device such as fraps or camtasia...etc.

You can't convert an arma recording no matter how hard you try. It's designed for debugging, and armagetron is both the recorder and playback means.

Like INW said, you will need screen capture software to record Armagetron. Take a look around this forum and see related threads for more help. Be wary, you might have very poor framerate or quality if your system isn't top-notch.

Even though you can't convert an .aarec to AVI, FLV, MPEG or any other video format, they certainly have their use. Many video makers first record the action they like using the Arma debug recorder, then capture the playback. This gives you more flexibility. You can change camera angles and textures and such.

i recommend to use the podcasting program from http://livestream.com, if you have a good internet connection. Then you can download it afterwards.

ok so i have camtasia my screen recorder, and i got my .aarec
i double clicked the .aarec file right after clicking "record" on camtasia.
It launched into full screen and i continued through the recording, until the end, where i quite everything and then clicked stop on camtasia. I opened up the screen capture and all i get is a black screen after i open up the .aarec

i figured it must be camtasia so or went and got camstudio and the same thing happened.

this sounds really nooby, i know, but can someone give instructions on how to do this- with the software, etc.
i tried to search the forums, but i got nothing.

thanks, prems

It is best to record with tron in windowed mode.

I use camtasia as well. It is great.

If you are recording full screen, you should check that camtasia is also set to full screen in the record coverage.

I would recommend you record in windowed mode.
