Pick Server Suggestion: Bugfarm Elimination Sumo || TST

Post by sinewav »

Thought about it? Sometimes I think about it, which is weird since I'm not a Sumo fan. Seems like one of those things that might get a lot of use before tournaments. I think someone had a good reason why we don't have this, but I can't remember what it is.

I also suggested a tst pickup server some days before, but I think a Bugfarm Elimination pickup would be much better!

Related: I'm also thinking Bugfarm + Gridstats would be a welcome marriage.

Bugfarm was a great server since no matter how many people you had it would start the elimination tournament at a certain time.

I should probably think about bringing it back on trunk code. The various config rotation possibilities there would make it much easier to implement without it getting constantly stuck. Plus, trunk code testing.

I do hope to see this on trunk code. With the right server setup, and the use of the KICK_TO command at the end for the winners, it would be possible to setup a group of servers to completely automate a tournament. This is something I have thought about before, but I have never put anytime into trying to debug the script, or write a new one. I am going to be putting up some servers that use the config/map rotation in the trunk code, so I am very motivated to see this.
