I ping lower now. What do you consider "stable", I found the old server stable even with a ping nearing 200.Phytotron wrote:Kinda Slow wrote:The only thing that's different is it's finally stable.

On topic: I thought of a great name for a server and you can have it if you want -- Super-Happy-Fun-Tron
...Gotta use the color scheme though.
But seriously, if the name change has more to do with a grid-stats issue, then I think a simple, appropriate suffix will do. Phyto's are good. Personally I "Mud Puddle 2011" (like Robotron 2084). I also think it should stay Mud Puddle since that's what people know, and really, it's the same server.

I like "Mud Puddle"... only because I thought of it. So I guess I'm slightly biased. heh

Some form is "Mud Puddle" is my preference, too; mainly because of the familiarity. If someone hasn't been online in a while comes looking, he will be more likely to recognize the name. Along that line of thought, you might consider using "Swampland" as part of the name for those who look alphabetically.
Maybe something like
Swampland Slough - same name, only different.

Re: Swampland Mud Puddle
Alright, I got it: "Still Mud Puddle."
It satisfies all of the above:
• It foremost retains the name "Mud Puddle"—not only for familiarity purposes, but also because it is, of course, exactly the same server, and therefore shouldn't really be re-named.
• It loses the "Swampland" name-drop (which I've always thought somewhat inappropriate as long as this server has existed, as it's really not even Swampland-like), while...
• ...keeping it in roughly the same location alphabetically.
• It conveys the point that it's still the same server, despite a slightly different name and host.
• And of course you get the play-on-words with a "still" puddle.
"Mud Puddle Jump" could work, too, with its double meaning (jumping over mud puddles, server jumping to a new host)—although, alluding to "puddle jumpers" (whether the planes or the, apparently, water wings) wouldn't make much sense.
EDITS: it's early...ish

"Same old Mud Puddle"?
"Still Mud Puddle" sounds nice, too.

Re: Swampland Mud Puddle
Dude, we're saying "Mud Puddle" should remain in the title. Anyway, I don't even know of any "slang" for mud puddles.
Forgot to answer this, and I'll do so in the negative (that is, what I consider unstable). Previously, pings were usually erratic, and additionally there were frequent ping spikes of up to 200-300ms, often lasting several minutes—sometimes even longer. Maybe it didn't occur as much during the hours you played, I don't know—I only ever play in the evening or late night (US Eastern). Or maybe you assumed all those high pings were other Europeans or something; again, I dunno. But it was empirically very unstable. Probably not coincidentally, that began around the same time cash stopped playing.saragei wrote:What do you consider "stable", I found the old server stable even with a ping nearing 200.
