Ya, we did that last year.Slov wrote:I can't remember if this is how we did last year but someone should setup a forum and everyone that wanted to participate should register and when they do that, they should select for which team they play (after username, password) etc. You can see certain forum section depending on which country you choose..

I think we allocated teams last year to some degree (although people put down their main preference) which allowed balancing and generation of a decent number of teams

I kind of disliked how last time around the US ended up splitting into 4 teams with players assigned randomly to each one. I don't mind the multiple teams factor, but I think it's kind of lame that we can't put all of our best players on one team - other countries get to do it!

Re: International Challenge - Discussion
It was 3 afaik, but its a good point. Perhaps the USA can decide within itself how many teams to submit and who is on which team this time around. Either way we've still got loads of time for discussion

No, I'm pretty sure we decided last time around that there would be one team per country, without the option of switching around nationalities this time around.

What deso said.
The restrictions last time were a joke (and iirc USA decided for themselves, it's not like anyone didn't allow you guys to have a strong team)

I think the US could come out with two strong teams. I think if there was only one team, many good players would be denied the ability to play.

I think the olympics should sport two US olympic teams. Since there's only one, some of the 300 million in the US can't play.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind having two teams, with one team getting the best players, but it is kind of unfair to the other countries who have lots of players, as some of them will have to sit out as well. If you're good enough to play, you'll be on the team. There's also no saying that the US team can't sub players in and out so that a lot of good players get a chance to play.

Re: International Challenge - Discussion
Some of us want it to be setup like our senate. Each state gets the same number of representatives (2).
Some of us want it to be setup like our house of reps. where each state gets a number of representatives based on their population.
Interesting.
I think their should be more than one U.S. team in the International Challenge because of the large amount of players. But then again, it would be unfair for the lesser populated countries. But then again it wouldn't because everyone from those countries gets to play.
It is all a mess IMO.

Bye "us", do you mean united states? I assume you mean "it" to be the government, right? The analogy is a bit hard to follow, but is a good representation. I still don't know what "it" is

"us" means United States players.
"it" being the tournament or teams.

Re: International Challenge - Discussion
All countries should have 1 team. The USA isn't the only one with a team where people have to sit out.

Not deliberately trying to throw another log into the flames (although we are actually getting some good valid points here so far), but what is the general consensus on allowing players who reside/were born in one country to play for another, perhaps based on heritage or other factors? For example, Red playing for Poland last time (this is one of the few I can remember, though I do also recall it caused some arguments last time).

I think it's fine. Last time I played for Sweden, or was it the Scandinavia team? Either way I'm not Swedish...syllabear wrote:Not deliberately trying to throw another log into the flames (although we are actually getting some good valid points here so far), but what is the general consensus on allowing players who reside/were born in one country to play for another, perhaps based on heritage or other factors?
