@sylla a good attacker can cut every kind of a def just have a look at gonzap, fofo(sometimes) and some more. They'll find a way to cut/kill every def.

A good, 100% focused defender can potentially never get cut. He'll probably shrink and get ganked eventually, but even without hiding miles behind their tail its not impossible to outlast any attacker, its just pretty damn difficult.

GZ SP. Gms rest.
I don't expect anything else from a game mode which seems like it was designed to maximise holing. 8v8, big holes, 2v2 conq, do you expect a simple def to work?

+ on the other subject I don't believe a step defender with enough tail overlap to stay 2 "steps" in front of their tail can ever be cut, the speed required to catch up is too great compared to the rubber you need to use to get past the steps. They will shrink, but they cannot be cut, and a good sweeper can help them re-expand region by region.

It was. But it also showed some weaknesses. If the center dies at the start, it's pretty much impossible to set it up properly. And of course it is hard to actually kill attackers with this strategy (although that is not the purpose of the box anyway).

well fortress has come a lot with holing.
I remember quite a few ladles where me and liz did nothing but hole. It worked when our def didn't fail.

The problem with holing is that it isn't too successful 2v1. 1vX where X > 2 works well with holing.

But me and liz started to work on a speed hole. Pretty innovative.might pull it off next ladle or sumthin with more practice.

It can only be a delaying tactic, unless attackers die on it. It's frustrating element obviously worked pretty well here too

Anyway I hope you guys get what you want from any new tourney you're making, leave the ladle to the team players.

I dunno, I resorted to mazing a bit inside my sweepbox to let word's tail catch up to me, then comming out and killing people. Only tried it about 3 times, but I got 2 kills both those times, and managed to keep the box alive afterwards (the attackers were pretty surprised I guess haha)

Attackers are no better today than they were thirty ladles ago. Teams are far more defensive, and defenders are far more conservative.

There's no point to spending the time developing attack when holing accomplishes the same thing. If we want to get over holing, people need to beat it first. Right now, we're just trying to hole before our opponent.

yeah, sometimes one of us would go outside for a bit and kill an attacker. our sweepbox was a lot more aggressive than Hamar's/Sixzero's (and i dare say, more effective - but not as fancy :P ). it didn't work every round because one of us died or was too fast/too slow or just didn't turn right and whenever that happened in the matches with unk they tried to hole our defender.
of course we started attacking as soon as someone entered the other zone, so most of the rounds didn't last long. :)

And I'd like to point out that we lost many rounds when we got holed (the sweepbox, not the inner def). Afterwards the defender could be shrinked to death or attacked in the conventional way (we had luffy as def and potter as center - we would have lost a lot more rounds with random players on these positions).
As soon as Potter, Gazelle and Ai were dead we were constantly under attack and it was only a question of time until we had to sweep normally. and even when unk tried to use a sweepbox defense as well (lol nt!) potter seemed unimpressed and just killed their center.
