Cody's team wanted to take part in the ladle though the sign ups were closed yet. They asked Tu for giving their ~bye~ away and playing the first round versus Cody's team instead.owned wrote:I guess I came late to the party. What happened?
Tu agreed, no rules were broken = everything was fine but then LucK complained somehow about something. All in all such a mess would not have been necessary but I think this topic can be locked now before this unnecessary discussion goes on.

That was the part I understood. But did something happen with players being switched?

can we please just play ladle? everything is handled....owned wrote:That was the part I understood. But did something happen with players being switched?
Re: Ladle Team "The Immortals" Want to play :>
There was no real switching because there weren't 2 teams. It was one team broken into two. So, they had to find a comfortable way to split 14 players into two groups.owned wrote:That was the part I understood. But did something happen with players being switched?
On the surface, one might try to equate this to Speeders' previous shuffling of players between teams. But this really isn't the case here since Cody's team gains no advantage. This is because any team they request a bye from can simply say "sorry, can't help you."
Everything was open, honest, and handled perfectly. Some might think the rules have somehow broken down. I think the contrary. To me, it looks like a success of our system. It shows fairness and flexibility, both of which are essential to the success and enjoyment of the tournament.

No man, it was a simple case of Red having the 6 he wanted at the making of the brackets. The 5-6 that wanted to play were bummed Red waited so late because the whole time we kept saying 2 teams. Cody initiated the last minute thing cause he knew the mechanics of how the Ladle worked.owned wrote:That was the part I understood. But did something happen with players being switched?
You have my word we would never pull any kind of antics. The second team was an overflow team. Thanks TU for being a good sports and well done on beating us.

Apologies if it seemed like I was accusing you of anything. I was just wondering what it was that happened. Now that I know what occurred, I completely agree with sine that a lot of this anger was unfounded.
The guidelines say that:
As for the bye issue, I think we need to clarify in the guidelines that a team asks the second bye if the first bye refuses, and then the third bye, and so on. When I read the guidelines, I assumed that a team is completely blocked out if the first bye responds no. I don't want anyone else to make this mistake in the future.
Although I suppose I am just restating things people have already said.
The guidelines say that:
Note that taking a player off of the roster is still legal. They can't be penalized for "switching" either because the team that their players went to was not on the bracket. The Immortals also can't be penalized for this either because when players were added to their team, it was before they had joined the bracket. After the brackets have been set a Team Leader may change a maximum of two players per team. Only two players per team can be added or switched.

Ok, that's easy enough. Here (addition in bold):owned wrote:As for the bye issue, I think we need to clarify in the guidelines that a team asks the second bye if the first bye refuses, and then the third bye, and so on.
"In the event your team misses the sign up deadline, and one or more teams have a bye in the first round, you may ask the team with the first bye for permission to fill the open slot. If they refuse, go through the byes in order. No team is under any obligation to give up a bye, and open slots are first come, first serve."
