Edit: After IM'ing with sine, I wanted to change the end of this post I will leave the above, since i did submit it. But, I see that what I have said above is just wrong. The rules are probably as simple as they can be.

Let's just end this, get on with voting, and play the game. .

True statement. Everything being proposed only complicates. As it is, its pretty simple imo.

+1 to everybody (wild, sine, gene, and hey, concord's a smart guy, and even though i did read all of his behemoths, i'll throw him one too).

If I may give my opinion (since we're all throwing them around), here's what I agree with (that I've read):
· Ladles are almost perfect the way they are now; there's not much to fret over
· Simple rules = win
· Trying to vote every 3 months is sometimes a bit tedious and gets out of hand

And something that I may add: Maybe instead of having community votes on ALL issues, we could elect some heads (like 5-11) who vote amongst themselves, and can distribute punishments, etc. Note: I am in no way suggesting that we implement or even discuss such a system now (iirc, it's been discussed heavily before). I'm just making a point to point out now how nice such a system would be so that there's more momentum going for it at a latter point :).

But yes. Most importantly, let's not overcomplicate ("overconcordcate" ???) this thread and try to be grateful for the progress that's been made and how good things are right now :).

(No hard feelings conc. You know I love ya.)

there's no justification for giving anyone special powers, even if they're elected. There is no hierarchy in the Ladle organization, it is self organized. The attempts to establish hierarchy should be undone, not reinforced.

All the people who want something that a few people take care of an control should feel free to start their own fortress tournament, but that type of idea does not belong in the TRONIC Ladle, unless you can make a very persuasive argument for it.

Yep. I won't be making any more voting threads. Luckilly, Ladle is in a good state right now so there isn't likely to be a problem for some time. We can still use the format in the future if a need arises. Or we can take care of problems the old fashion way (whatever that is).

interesting developments...

funnily enough
while writing this story/book/film script
i came up with an alternative way for brackets to happen
a variation on the original
where captains choose where they place themselves
but
i didn't want to suggest it on the forum
because i have found that new ideas get mushed up...
i'd rather just go ahead and write what i want to write in the complete and finished thing

just remember
the only reason self-organising works
is purely because of honour and respect
(it is not just a matter of people turning up on time)

the more rules and attempts to make an air-tight ungamable system
the more it becomes a locked-down and centralised (and in the end disempowering) institutional construct

we know this
because we all experience it in some form in modern industrialised society
big time

(and the reason why these voting bouts get out of hand
is because the linear structure of forums...
something which works against us
imho
and reverts us to opinionated clods rather than uplift our genuine insights and values we uphold)
hold the line
