Usually I'd take anyones side but Word's (am I kidding? who knows!) but I can't take anyone who complains about talking during the ladle seriously. Enable_chat 0 and there's even an individual silence menu! Hey guys, didn't like the way teen talked a lot during the ladle? TRY SILENCING.

I silence all opposing players before a match, it works well. Try it next time.

Is there a shortcut to silencing someone through the console? It would be easier than the menu. I'd rather type PLAYER_SILENCE <partial string>.

In 0.3.0 these work:
SILENCE
UNSILENCE

I put SILENCE <player> into my autoexec.cfg and it works fine.

I am sorry if I began a controvercial discussion regarding this subject, that was not at all my intention - my sincere apologies. Word we will continue chat over PM if you'd like, yeah?

I feel it could be hazardous to personally silence an entire team of people via your console/menu - what if you need to communicate with the other team for some reason? Just some food for thought! But in the future, I will take all of your advice, and do silences via console/menu if I am bothered - thank you for your assistance, and again my apologies if I came off as complaining or childish! =)

Yeah, i was referring to the usual public chat that consists of not much more but xD wd and lol, that's what i called spam (but it don't silence anyone because of that or tell him to shut up...)

Surprisingly enough, the silence option comes with a reverse - unsilence - added in completely free of charge.

I think the point that he is trying to make is that not only will you not be able to contact the other team, but you will be unable to see the other team trying to contact you with what is to them a priority issue. So, yes, you can "unsilence" when you need to chat, but there is no way for the other team to get your attention.

Just keep everything within /team until you do need to get the other team. Simple as.

This game, and ladle was supposed to be about bringing players together for a fun competition. Whats the f***ing point if you aren't going to talk to each other? Get over yourselves una, you lost.
