Noise maker.

Post by voltisubito »

Hello.

I wanted to name this thread "You have been voltisubito'ed" ... but it just doesn't have the same ring to it as "fonged." Anyway, since I am rather new to the forms here I thought I should formally introduce myself. My name is Jason, and I write music. I also record audio. I have some demoish stuff on my website at:

http://www.wolfteck.com/~jschind

I primarily joined the forms because I want to work on context specific music for AA as well as sound effects. I love playing AA, but I'm not incredibly skilled at it *yet*

Anyway... I know Lucifer is a musician, are there any others??

I have been singing for more than half my life, um that would be 16 years (shit i been singing for 16years :o i never counted how long :!: :!: ) I am 26, and have sung in choirs(think school chorus, not church choir) and bands over the years. i have writen a few songs for friend of mine to sing with their bands, and i have done standin work for a few bands that where short a singer at bar gigs.

I also play around with the drums, keyboard/synth, and the guitar. I wouldnt say i play any of them very well, but i know how to make noises that wont quite make your ears bleed

Everyone has a different definition of "nice" when it comes to music... I just hope to hit the "nice" graph approximately down the median.

Sweet! It'll be nice to have some musicians around to throw ideas off of.

I play the trumpet and the guitar. I can fake some other stuff... but I'm not nearly proficient enough to claim honest "ability." ;-)

HI again,

For my part, I cannot play the guitar. Does it count for something?

Amen to that. ;)

Instead of making music for all occasion, why not make music the same way that people make cycle and level textures, to make an atmosphere? Many have started to make textures set for their servers, like lucifer, so a sound set would enrich the whole experience. Have you seen/played with HexaTRON? What would be music and sound effect for it.

I'm just trowing you a few ideas,

What I'm thinking right now would definitely build an atmosphere... but only one. What I hope to accomplish is a system of loops within one mod file that change depending on what is currently going on in the match. Ultimately the looping frames and the entire mod would be able to be switched out by anyone... thus allowing those with time or talent to make their own for their server. I assume it wouldn't be a big deal to mooch music off of the server... I have very little experience in how the custom texturing etc works.

HexaTRON destroys my fragile little world. However, I can't really see the music or sounds being any different then classic mode. Maybe after playing it some more.. I'll understand better.

Sometime Monday, I'll post some sounds and get a thread talking about all this in Development.

btw: Happy Easter.
