I want to play your team just as badly as I'm sure you want to play ct :) , but these are the rules as of now.

It does be come a bye -- for CT, then Rogue, then Unknown. That's one of the purposes of seeding. Speeders absence benefits the other seeded teams (and the team that doesn't have to face them in the first round) by opening up more slots for winners to get a bye. If no other teams sign up, every seed will get a bye (there are 13 teams signed up at the time of this post).

And here I thought we were gonna have a ladle without SP attention whoring..

This seeding makes it really hard for new/n00b teams btw, even harder than before. We already knew this probably, not sure why nobody protested it for this reason. I'm fine with that though, a challenge!

Tremor did, then later Spin brought it up; which in turn brought a few good rebuttals. Lucifer made a very sound post concerning the benefits, and I think benefits outweigh the slight damage done to unseasoned players/teams.

With seeding we avoid top/bottom-heavy brackets (a major annoyance) and teams have an incentive to stay together, to regularly participate, and to stay involved with voting discussions. And speaking of voting, if we find this seeding business is no good, we can vote it out right away.

 Also, did you really think Unknown and Rogue Tronners would get seeds?

^ I knew it all the time

So SP are you keeping your seed or does the namechange mean that you're forfeiting it?

Well the Rules are the following:
1. The team name must remain the same. The exception is a slight variation or abbreviation of the name. However, it should be obvious to the person making the brackets this is a returning team with a seed. Please use good sense if you must use a variant or abbreviation.
2. The team must have either:
The same captain (or at least one captain out of the two, if there were two) and three additional players who were on the challenge board the previous ladle or
Five players who were on the challenge board in the previous ladle. Player names are restricted to the same guidelines as team names (above).

1. Speeder's new name is just a slight variation, and it's obvious that it is a returning seeded team.

2. Also, they have five returning players: insanity, flex, psyko, viper, and fofo.

So they are retaining their seed.

Also, shouldn't the challenge board be up by now?

LOL at the two SP teams playing the two CT teams XD

Seems to be a very well setup bracket for even matches the first round.

I actually did think R and uNk were going to get seeds, theyre not the weak teams I'm talking about. Why doesn't the ladle have double elimination? That would be fun for the teams who always get knocked out early.

Just throwing in some ideas.

We've talked about this a few times. First, it would take the Ladle a lot longer to complete. Second, a lot of people think one match isn't enough to really determine a winner. Remember when we voted to make the Finals best of 3 instead of 5? It almost didn't pass.

Here is the end of a quick exchange between Corn and Z-Man about Double-Elimination.

I personally like the idea of 2-Elim brackets, but I don't think it's necessary for Ladle. I'd rather kill seeding if it becomes a problem rather than switch to a whole new system.

Also, looking over the current brackets, I feel like it's fairly balanced. I think there are more good match-ups than bad ones.

Another bad thing about double elimination is that the winners get so many byes. It's not that fun to play 20% of the time and wait the rest (no I'm not exaggerating, it's happened. it's quite boring). Double elimination was just barely acceptable in the ctf tourneys destiny hosted because we never had more than 8 teams.

It'd be hard to take the ladle seriously if it was double elimination, best-of-1 matches.

It's good how the ladle is relatively fast-paced/smooth (lots of playing, little waiting) and you sometimes have to fight hard just to get to the next round. Why ruin that?

Besides, the upcoming Fortress Cafe tournament will be a nice experiment in a Double Elimination bracket. Perhaps it would be best to let other fortress tournaments experiment with it!
