Please don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say that no one else has done it; I simply said I don't know anyone who has and that there likely wouldn't be enough people who have to decently populate a server.

OK, mag, I think you might be understating what your mod does JUST A LITTLE BIT. I have watched you play many times, and when you're following a line, you keep exactly the same distance from it 100% of the time. Also, just because you have the skill to code this mod, it doesn't make you a skillful Armagetron player. I can build a computer that will give me 200+ FPS in 5 minutes, but that doesn't make me better at the game. Finally, there is absolutely nothing that you have said that actually justifies your USE of this mod. I will issue a kick poll every time I see you using it on any server that I have the permission level to do so on.
Thanks,

You obviously don't pay much attention then. I am not always a constant distance from the wall. I turn closely to it on the outside of corners but I turn much farther from it on the insides.

I was skillful enough when I first started coding it; the fact that I use my mod says nothing about my actual skill. As for justifying it, do I need to? I made it, therefore I have the right to use it; and there are no rules/laws against using it. Some people have said they enjoy defending while I attack using it, so you can't just think that your opinion is the only one and assume everyone is against it. Almost every single poll against me for using my mod has failed because the majority of people don't seem to mind.

Plat, that attitude is not necessary. The man enjoys his intellect, no need to be abusive. Simply put, We are asking all 'moders' to please keep their 'mods' to a secluded/private server until something can be done to form a fair resolve aka separate server set aside for mods. I myself do not have the foundation/skills to create such a server.. however i know there are those out there who do. If anyone has the free time to put together a unique server/settings for -mods- OR Call is Mod-friendly (meaning, anyone can join as apposed to a server were MODS ARE PROHIBITED). Being that, this situation is not the 1st i have heard of.. it could in the future become more consistent, so why not combat it now with some forethought strategy? If anyone is interested in this idea, create a new thread titled something like "Mod wars- serve ideas", and we can begin the building process :)

Why is everyone getting so upset? Hes so easy to kill even with his stupid bot/marco/script whatever. TBH if you're going to make a hack/cheat for tron , make it at least decent, that piece of crap you use just doesn't cut it.

Modifying the code to do this or using it isn't illegal. But neither is ridiculing or kicking you for it. It doesn't matter that nobody thought up a rule for it yet, when a good number of people clearly don't appreciate how you have a sort of aimbot.

What Jonathan said.

Appa: you misread me. With 'protest', I meant your protest against the thread merge, not against the bot/mod usage. If you hadn't edited away your post, I may have been able to see your point, but since you did, I can't. And how is publishing an IP paranoid? I just want server admins who feel the same way about assisting cheats as me to be able to identify this particular cheater.

I do like the idea of a Bot/Mod server. It could also be a place to test new AIs for our builtin bots. I can host it no problem, it's probably not going to be crowded anyway. Setting suggestions welcome.

Also, the outside grind help this mod apparently does is one of the tings I want a future "Rubber 2.0" system to do for you (posted about it in the dev only section a while back). At the cost of consuming rubber, of course.

A server for bots/assisted playing could be cool. I know that I've fiddled with the chat bot code before. It could be interesting to see what scrapes it could get a player out of type thing. If it still works... and I can find it...

I would find it a ton of fun to play, unassisted, in such a server. I just don't want to play in a regular server with somebody doing this. And, in regards to the ip: as a server admin, I am going to search logs and see if I cannot find any correlating ip's.

I would search my logs, too, but.... ::pokes Gene:: :P

Incidentally, this won't fly in my servers, nor will Obsi's chatbot hack. (Although, they both apparently have dynamic IPs.)

My modifications aren't a chatbot hack like Obsi's... it still takes skill to use. And I make mistakes and kill myself just as much as everyone else in the game.

"Just as much as anyone else"?? You die WAY less, and you're often the last player. If you want to use a mod, use it in games where ALL PLAYERS CONSENT.
