Double Binding

Post by WaxyChicken »

I last played this game 3 or 4 years ago.

i have to say, coming back to it.....
double binding has ruined the game.

sure, it was there before, but not very common.
now it seems like almost 1/2 of all players in the dogfights and non-CTF fortress servers are using it.

I'd say about 80-90% of people use it in competitive play.

And this estimate includes doubles, triples and quads.

I think id get arthritis if I only used single binding in some game types (i.e. hr). People mostly only single bind still in sumo and fort (but i still think it's like 80%-20%). I don't think it's ruined the game though, it just adds a new perspective to it.

That's like saying 'Walls ruin the Gamplay' for me. In both cases it's the same: Without it, AA wouldn't be the same, Fun Game.

Man, doublebinding became popular long before your "dogfights and non-CTF fortress servers" were even invented. (I think the latter ruined the game more than the former, but voted 'yes.')

I didn't say anything about rules. It's obnoxious. Just because there isn't a rule prohibiting something doesn't mean you should do it. (Kinda like doublebinding. Har.)

And there isn't a rule about ranting on other people's signatures no matter how obnoxious they are or arguing with people until your blue in the face...still doesn't mean you should do it.

Correct that there's no rule, but it's a common decency thing. I wouldn't mind if it was a bit smaller myself. (Say, 60-70% the size it is now.)

I remember back when double binding was discovered. Even then, it only radically affected certain types of game play. As a single binder if you're really on top of things you can still beat a double binder. You just have to be a bit smarter about how you play I think.
