Ladle 34: Voting Thread (CLOSED)

Post by sinewav »

We didn't get a lot accomplished during this last quarterly discussion, so I'll do my best to represent those ideas here. Remember, this thread is for voting only, one vote per team signed up on the Challenge Board.

Note: The biggest part of the discussion was about the nature of holes in Ladle. Since the holes in DS Mega (0.75m) are the only ones thoroughly tested by the larger part of the community, it would be awkward to include other sizes, IMO. Let's keep this simple, shall we?

Your choices...
  • Team size: 6v6 | 7v7 | 8v8
  • Holes: unchanged | smaller (0.75m) | no holes

Since we didn't get a lot of feedback on splitting the Ladle up into two days, I didn't include it. However, this is an issue that keeps getting brought up, so maybe next quarter we can explore this a little more?

Official Statement*

Any post can be edited. What matters is two things:

1. One vote per team
2. Voting closes at 18:00 GMT, June 3rd.

A team could just as easily wait until the last second to vote in order to go with the crowd (if they are undecided), or they can not vote at all if they don't have a strong feeling one way or another. Olive's post is perfectly OK. Let's continue, shall we?

*It's official because I made the thread. :P

With 79% of the teams responding, here are the results of the quarterly vote:

Team size:
6v6 (9)
7v7 (2)
8v8 (0)

Holes:
unchanged (3)
smaller (0.75m) (7)
no holes (1)

I'm sure there will be some arguing about holes, so you might as well get it out now. Feel free to trash this thread since the vote is over. When complaining, please keep the following in mind: This vote had a very good turn out, one of the best so far. One vote in particular added some weight to the smaller holes, but even without it smaller holes would have won. Threads like this have thus far proven to be rather successful in gauging the feel of the community (example: the quarterly voting is responsible for changing the team size from 8 to 6, and 6 had stood strong every time it's been challenged since). And finally, we can always vote on holes next quarter. In fact, the more often we vote on an issue like this the better chance we have of getting it right - just like we did with 6v6.

:) Thanks to all who participated, and good luck in L-34!
