Pro Sumo Challenge

Post by orion »

60 players for sign up. After 60 signed up--> The best 20 players of sumo would be choise by admins. After the votation, this will be like a soccer tournament. All weekends 10 matches. So its all vs all.
matches: 1v1, best of 1, to 1200 pts.
who won get 1 point, who lost 0 pts.
this will be a total of 19 dates.
2 servers. 1 in EU other in USA
server and date are ramdom.
example: player 1 vs player 2 usa server 17:45 GMT.
player 3 vs player 5 EU server 17:45
player 14 vs player 19 usa server 19 gmt...
its all.. atm!

I'm ready to sing!

Is this going to be like JUMBO sumo? I really like Jumbo and will only participate in Sumo competitions in this setting. However, the scoring does need to change.

Says 1v1 if you look closely. *Hints orion to do better formatting, especially spacing, in his post*

I think it's a fairly good idea, and it will be fun if enough players sign up.

I'd be inclined to sign up as a player, but I've told you I'll help admin it so I'll do that unless there are other non-playing admins available.

When you say "...all weekends 10 matches..." what does that mean?

I understand it as all 20 players playing one game each. One player plays one match every weekend (Or forfeit if s/he can't make it). This means the tournament would go on for 19 weeks.

@orion: how about Best of 2? first match in EU second match in US. 3p for win, 1p for tie, 0p for loss.

So is this 1 vs 1 as in 2 people go up against each other in a match, or are you talking about a sort of free for all where it is one person per team and a tonne of teams? Your posts seems to give conflicting messages, conflicting for me anyways.

Edit: Wait is this sort of like Kings of the grid? Where everyone who participates challenges each other and the person with the most points at the end is the winner?
You've gone too far, turn back!

Seems like a tournament that would lose its value over such a long course.
