Wow pike, we all agreed to keep that a secret and not to reveal the real reason why I cut it there.
You jerk!

Re: Ladle 32 on Youtu..er..Millidrive.
what do i need to get the rubber meter above the players' names?
(looks like something HUD-related)
edit: ahhhh, great to see it works
could it be that there's a HUD which displays only the rubber of the players who are attacking you, so it's less confusing? i know it must be hard to define "attacking" but it should already be enough if they are in a certain area of the screen, defined by the lagometer (or a few pixels apart from it)

(Since Word already took it off-topic...)
Boo! I don't think you should be able to view other players' rubber info, or things like speed or brake info. A fundamental aspect of the game and what makes it good (and challenging) is paying attention and gauging that stuff for yourself. In other games can you view other players' health and ammo, for instance? Come on. Bad idea.

I definitely agree with Phytotron on this one.
However, for recording, it's a nice feature.
But I don't care if the opponents can see how much rubber I use; the top notch players can already do that, without a rubber meter hack.

Agreed. It can maybe even be considered cheating since you can only do that on 0.3.x not 0.2.8.x and some people prefer the latter over the former.Titanoboa wrote:I definitely agree with Phytotron on this one.

If you want the same advantages as someone who uses 0.3, then download 0.3
I personally would feel distracted by the rubber gauges above cycles, and after these years in sumo/fortress I can already determine how much rubber someone has after seeing them grind/dig into a wall. This is like saying people with minimaps have an advantage, I beg to differ.
Now Phytotron, stop going offtopic (but I must say you did great in the ladle.)

Re: Ladle 32 on Youtu..er..Millidrive.
Well with the help of epsy I figured out what I was doing wrong before, and from using my own cockpit with rubber meters added over everyone's lightcycle, I have to say there isn't that huge of an advantage. The only areas that it helps in, are: You can see whether you can "beat someone's grind", so if you see it go in the red you shouldn't attempt it, if it is green go for it, if it is orange grind hard. The other area is; if you see that someone is in the red you can go straight for the kill since you know they don't have much room to maneuver.
Both of those scenarios are fairly common, and most people that have played for a while can usually tell what to do anyways. I ended up putting it as a toggle and having it default as off, like I did with the impact meters, because I did find myself looking at it too often, getting distracted, and dying quite a bit. Not to mention the reliability of my own rubber metre normally, let alone everyone else's.
@Titanoboa It isn't a hack if the cockpit supports it by default, from my understanding anyways.
On Topic: I'm having the same problem as others, the video just says "the video will begin shortly after this advertisement" but there is never an advertisement, and the video never loads.

You've gone too far, turn back!
