Re: Random Suggestions (Was: 0.2.8.3.1: What to put into it)
It would be handy from a server admin point of view, at least for myself, if the /players list was sorted. Perhaps, authenticated players first sorted by I.P followed by non-authenticated players sorted by I.P? I took a look through the wiki to see if there was any information on how or if it was sorted, but couldn't find anything.

We could sort it by either name or client ID, but IP sounds unpractical. You know about the search function of /players, right?
Re: Random Suggestions (Was: 0.2.8.3.1: What to put into it)
Thanks to a chat with Infamous via MSN I believe I am now. /players (search tag)? I tested it quickly in a local game, but I look forward to seeing how it works in a full server. As for the practicality, I would have thought it would be more so to sort it via I.P as that tends to change less frequently than names do, but that search feature, if it reads I.Ps, should more than sort out my issues.
Thanks for letting me know about that epsy. : )

How about enabling /shuffle in local games? I've always wanted that.

I've missed being /op'd a few times and end up waiting for something that's already been done; can this be changed from WHITE text?
Along with anything else I'm not thinking of that's relatively more important than the rest of the text output
Or perhaps colour coded text output eg. setting changes are red

sinewav and I briefly discussed some sort of server message on client quit. So as you leave a server, you get "Thanks for playing in Fortress Café"
Re: Random Suggestions (Was: 0.2.8.3.1: What to put into it)
I know I've sometimes forgotten what server I was in after I've been there for a while (especially in Fort/Sumo since they are all the same). Some servers use a round console message that says something indicative but others don't. It could possibly be helpful, especially for newer players, if there was some sort indication of recent server history. But maybe an "end of server message" might be annoying, or go unnoticed like the "message of day" usually does? Or how about a server browser column that shows "recent" visits? I know the way the browser pings the list now is already similar to that, am I right?Concord wrote:sinewav and I briefly discussed some sort of server message on client quit.

And "I missed by 1!" (attributed to Chris Pirillo) should be a new default instachat, perhaps to replace the "mental disorder" instachat.
Yessir. Makes sense conceptually as well, as in "this factor (or percentage) of rubber retained when turning into a wall."Z-Man wrote:CYCLE_RUBBER_DELAY_BONUS ( Hmmm. We should rename that to _FACTOR, _BONUS sounds too positive )

While going back through some older versions I was reminded of the fact that the flashy-word-hilighting deal (applying to menus, server browser, 'Say:' and 'Con:') used to be brighter redder. Why did that change? I thought it looked so much cooler before, and much more befitting the game. Can it be restored to bright red?
