so all you gotta do is type SHOW_OWN_NAME 1 into the console

No one told her to type ` for the console first, or 1 for "on", because we know she already knew that. But if a true n00b asked as similar question, we probably would have mentioned the console key.

But yes, I think you are right, quicksilver. A lot of people who post here don't understand that this is a resource for information about the game, and will be viewed by thousands of people with varied experience who don't post here at all or aren't even registered. So it's always a good idea to post with that consideration in mind.
