one dumb question
so I'd like to make a custom cycle texture. Every time I change it even a little the color doesn't show in the game.
Don't know If you understand.. but I guess It's a common problem.

Re: one dumb question
Not positive here, but if its the colour of the texture your changing, wouldn't that just be overwritten by whatever cycle colour you choose in game?
You've gone too far, turn back!

Re: one dumb question
Why does a texture work if I save it from this forum.
Doesn't it work like if I use a certain color of gray to draw a part of something so that in the game that gray would change into players color?

First, let me say welcome the to the ArmagetronAD forums. Edit: oh, and no questions are dumb, but providing a better title for your thread is more helpful, like "colored texture problem" or something like that.Teetseremoonia wrote:Doesn't it work like if I use a certain color of gray to draw a part of something so that in the game that gray would change into players color?
I'm not entirely sure what your question is, but maybe the answer is in the Armagetron Wiki? For instance, this page: http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php?title=Textures
There is quite a lot you can do with textures. If you have a texture you are working on, and there is a problem with it, please post it here along with your question and we can help you better.
Re: one dumb question
You need to keep bits of the texture transparent (with the alpha channel); the transparent bits are replaced by your player colour (or rather, blended with it). Naturally, you'll need a paint program that preserves the alpha channel. MS Paint may not be up to the job.

Thanks!
last question: Does anyone know if Corel photoshop 12 can do the job? Haven't installed it yet.. but I have the cd.

Re: one dumb question
if you use adobe photoshop or gimp you maybe noticed that the transparent parts are colored like a chessboard, you can modify them with the eraser tool. when you save the file, make a png and when you're asked if you want to save the "interlaced" parts, chose this option.
Re: one dumb question
Word is correct. The whitespace you see in MS Paint is really an unsupported alpha channel.
Yes. Corel has supported an alpha channel since v3.0. (I think I'm right about this, that's when I started using it.)Teetseremoonia wrote:Thanks!

Good. Looks like you got the Tron Legacy bug too.
Oh, and you need to check your filenames when you make stuff like this:
Example: dir_wall.png not dirwall.png
Also, remember to back up your original files!

also not to be rude or anything, but the trail part.. could you make the black part invisible and the white part visible.
like if you ride with your bike there would be two stripes behind you.
thanks dude
Re: one dumb question
Oh duh. Sorry, I saw that it was the black to alpha, but I did the opposite. Here is a new texture:Teetseremoonia wrote:also not to be rude or anything...
