Weekly Open-Teamed Matches?

I was looking through the old AW page recently, more specifically the old AW talk page, and came across a conversation about setting up regular open team type matches every week at a set time/set day. I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in trying to do this? Basically it would be anyone who wants to play on a team shows up in a certain server each week at the same time and day and we just pick teams and play. Maybe have rotating team captains that pick players one at a time, or have it be completely randomized, or maybe a mix of both or something completely different I don't know .

I've just been noticing that fortress games are random lately, sometimes there is a full server all the time one day, then not even 1 person playing the next. Anyways just thought I'd throw it out there and see who is interested, seeing as the conversation and talk page is around 3 years old I'm surprised this hasn't already been done yet.

Although, with Fort's popularity at a high point right now, and with so many teams having impromptu wars, it's pretty easy to get your Fort-fix nowadays. Really, who would have guessed American Fort servers full for hours on weeknights?

So, hayes, maybe after Ladle-23 you can get yourself into a more serious, active team? Or maybe AW can keep the ball rolling? It would be cool, no? And feel free to challenge Plus+ anytime (we need the practice).

Maybe one of us with a server can rename it to something clever on non-Ladle Sundays around 18:00 GMT and admin it? I might be available to host something like that...

I think that sounds great. It would be competitive, but not as tense as ladle time. I get excited about ladle even though I haven't found a team. You can see the pressure just reading forums and seeing ladle's aftermath.

I think epsy is working on something to do with this, something along the lines of a pick-up bot iirc. But I'd still like to see a regular meeting every week. So how about every Wednesday at 9:00 GMT? Just throwing a day/time out there right now to get the ball rolling.
