My team will be ready!
p.s. tronAholics is not a clan.
Its a team for players who JUST LIKE TO PLAY and don't care about "belonging" to drama clans.

Re: First TRONIC Bowl
192 players... twice as much than were playing in last Ladles. Summer coming... Exams... Not much people willing to become captains of new teams...
We can make it
PS. How about making it Saturday-Sunday competition? Shall we give it a try or not? It may be an exhausting tourney for finalists & teams fighting for 3rd place.

Re: First TRONIC Bowl
Gets my vote. Yesterdays schedule was pushing against my bedtime and dinner time on the two ends. While eating pizza while administering works, doing so while playing is not such a good idea. I think that rolling out that soccer world cup format with a group phase with groups of four teams on Saturday and the usual elimination among the 16 survivors of that on Sunday would work best. Or spread it over two Sundays, depending on when the players have more time. A quick poll about that would be in order. 'course, if 16 or less teams sign up, we can always fall back to the old and tested format.pike wrote:PS. How about making it Saturday-Sunday competition? Shall we give it a try or not? /me agrees with Z-man. Those of us with families and/or family commitments will have trouble blocking off that large a part of a single day! I have enough difficulty blocking off the time to setup and be a part of the Ladle! My wife would murder/divorce me if I even tried to do a Bowl that lasted that long in one day!

Re: First TRONIC Bowl
I think we should have the rounds of 32/16/8 on Saturday and the semis/finals on Sunday. I've been a bit squished in the past few tourneys and spreading it out is better. Doing this could also increase the anticipation for the final rounds.

Re: First TRONIC Bowl
Yeah, and I got yet another horrible monday in work today.
I wonder if someone tried to do this server mirror thing; is it possible? Would be great to watch Bowl final and I guess 32 slots will be just not much for such event.

Re: First TRONIC Bowl
we had a holiday this week
and monday was free
there isn't a date that we happen to have a free monday the next day
national holidays coincide
that kind of thing around then?

Re: First TRONIC Bowl
I'd be in favor of spreading it over two days
Re: First TRONIC Bowl
I guess I'll be the pessimist in the thread.
Despite the lowering of players required, ladle 21 had only 13 teams. What is the likely hood that this number will jump back to 16, or double that 32, before the bowl/next ladle?
If we only get say 16 teams or less will we still call it the cup? The first ladle was drastically smaller then the spoon with the ladle actually scaling back to a 1 day event. Do we really need to change the name if nothing else changes?
Not trying to be mean, just putting my thoughts out there.

Re: First TRONIC Bowl
reasonable point
you mom
the first ladle was smaller than the spoon
but it wasn't reduced to one day
that was always the original design...
and it we got to a final and a winner
whereas the spoon
using trad methods didn't
concs redefined the tronic progression
as anyone is allowed to do
and it is not just a matter of specifying the number of teams
but it indicates a level of stability in the tournament so that it can scale to the next level
imho
we have proved the stability of the ladle
and evolved methods of deciding what the rule sets are
and server admin protocols etc
though
i don't think its stable enough to scale up to any significantly sized number of teams
what's holding us back
is our inability to open source an alternative to trad marketing departments
in order to increase the number of players
and overcome that initial steep learning curve to playing the best minimalist team game in the virtual world

btw

There are many open source forums where we could advertise it2020 wrote:what's holding us back

And you could invite some TV shows with uncommercial content and give interviews about the project, that could be exciting if you say the right things (you explain the idea of open source games and use armagetron as the best example )

though the 'you' can be anyone
anyone who happens to be closest to do a live interview
or you as in radian who is very good at that kind of thing...
depends on the interview i guess
