Upgrading to phpBB3

Post by Tank Program »

Does anyone have anything against upgrading? The phpBB3 theme I've developed looks more or less identical, and we can tweak that as we go along. I bring this up because the spam is starting to increase again, and one would hope the anti-spam should be better in the newer version.

If no one objects, I'm going to do the upgrade this Sunday, so people should expect, down time, inaccessibility, and falling bowls of petunias.

I don't find phpBB3's anti-spam features any better than phpBB2...why change?

There are other security reasons for upgrading.

considering the work I've done for the new theme has been with phpBB3 my selfish reason lie therein.

I have no strong feelings either way.

That said, could you implement the same custom anti spam registration the wiki has for the forums? If you think it would help that is.

Yes, it's just taken some time to get around to it. Had some problems with my desktop.

Ok, we should be upgraded now. Point out things that are wrong.

Some stuff:
- I see I'm a brave victim now.
- Relative sizes look a little disproportionate to me. Perhaps worsened by the smaller font size set in my browser prefs.
- Avatars are limited to 63.85 KiB. Looks odd. 64 KiB = 65536 B, FYI.
- I don't like that 'softened' default color.
- Might have been like this for a while, but now I notice even more that my font size isn't respected. Sure, no px, but the main text is supposed to be more or less the size I set, not 83% of that.

Edit: no more hex! How could I miss that! Now that we're at it, how about something truly obscure instead of either decimal or hex? :)
