Max_ping setting
Do you guys think we can finally integrate a setting/command like this? To keep high ping players out, if the server admin so chooses by setting a MAX_PING to 200 it will kick anyone with a ping over 200. Basically, just something that might parse the players.txt to look for pings over the limit specified, thus sending a kick command to that player.
I would like to see this added in .2.8.3

Have you ever been in WW CTF? The player Noodles comes from Australia, and he is one of the best players there, but not because his ping is always higher than 200 . Ww CTF would be pretty boring for me if there was no Noodz...-=VcL.Rajinn wrote:Do you guys think we can finally integrate a setting/command like this? If you're afraid of the effects a high ping player has on the others, lower or disable the ping charity. Either that of your client or that on the server with PING_CHARITY_MAX (requires that all clients support it, unfortunately.) Oh, and you'll also want to set LAG_CREDIT to 0. That makes any connection problems someone has solely their problem.

0.2.8 was feature-frozen over 2 years ago. You're talking about a new feature. I don't think it's necessarily a bad idea (if for no other reason than to ensure a specific standard of playing capability on the server), but it belongs in 0.3.2 or 0.3.3 at the soonest. Especially when you consider the complexities of trying to make sure you don't kick the occasional ping jump.-=VcL.Rajinn wrote:Do you guys think we can finally integrate a setting/command like this? It makes your text harder to read (some people in here might have some sort of color blindness, at least one guy does as a matter of fact) even for normal-sighted people, and it makes your posts stand out for no reason at all (whether that standing out says “i'm dumb” or “i'm great” is irrelevant). Imagine the chaos if everyone did that.
Besides. it wastes precious bytes in the forums' DB.
