Is there an an old school server you want brought back

Post by compguygene »

I will consider bringing back some of the kewl servers of the past. But, I need those old cfg files.
Post a cfg file and description along with why its kewl, and I will consider hosting it.

Also, I was talking with a few of those awsome DBD's last night. They would like me to bring back Hex Sumo. What do you think?

Also, because I don't have time for server development, I would consider doing joint server development on my vps, where I setup a binary and login for you. For now, no web controls, but they may become available to me from others in the community in the near future.

I knew someone would post about armagoshdarn...
F! Infamous gave me what may be as close as we can get.
I will put it up. I was not in Tron at the time of Armagoshdarn...could someone who was test it and give me a clue about the feel of the settings?

I would be glad to fine tune them...or let someone else.

Done!
Server loads and plays.

It may take some hours from this post to fully propagate to all of the master servers. Please let me know what you think!

I wouldn't mind giving HexaTRON some game time... but that involves porting the ancient (pre-0.2.8.0) map to the current specs. And proper texture resource support, but that's not happening today.

there is interest in hex...DBD|pathetique pointed me to his hex sumo map in the resource repository. I am thinking of tinkering with the Sumo settings to make it work...
Also not a today thing....
Especially with me whipping my ladle team into shape tonight!

But F! Infamous did give me some nice DF Settings....Thought i would put that up...there has been call for a DF tourney.

I see why nobody's ported HexaTRON-- it used SavePos and RestorePos (which were removed before 0.2.8) extensively! Regardless, I finally decided that it was time to port HexaTRON. Enjoy!

Sweet! Now, I can see the attraction! Looks like next week i will be working on some hex servers with DBD|pathetique!

Thanks for updating the map luke.

Also, was it low, medium, high rubber, ideas on speed. Thought it might be worth asking.

I wouldn't mind seeing Breakfast of Champions/Breakfast in Hell back. :)

variable conquerable fortress

Post by radian »

i would like to see a fortress server that has fairly easy conquerable zones at start..
but with each player that gets core dumped thier corrosponding team zone becomes slightly less conquerable/
ie..all on team blue are dumped apart from the defender..but it then takes maybe four or five on team gold to effectively spin his zone into to a win-is that possible !
--would make for some interesting new gameplay

i reworked the team plus logo (my avatar) into a 3d looking 2d image..will put a full size one in the artwork section..lightcycles grinding the roads down the bottom give it some nice perspective

So the greater the difference between the teams' numbers, the less influence the players have who are on the more numerous team...
I don't think I made that any less complicated, but I think I get what you mean. Kind of like a Last Stand kind of thing?

conquerable variable fortress

Post by radian »

yea thats exactly it kamp..maybe the zone swells slightly too for the remaining defender adding to his worrys..but the swell could be attacker based--the less attackers the smaller the swell--been thinking bout it for a while now
i just love it

I thought the subject was "old servers you want brought back," not "what new variation on fortress do you want to see?"

I just played there for a couple of rounds.. noticed the arena is huge, at least much larger than i can recall. I think you could easily half the width/length, i kinda liked the size of the arena when it was just single player against three bots.

Also there is a bot when it's 1v1 (would prefer no bots at all when there's more than one player).
