New Computer
Well, after the long haul, its done. Well, done enough to be used anyway, ive been working on building a new computer to replace the old dell i have been using.
What do you think?
Thermaltake Armor series fullsize case
SpinQ thermaltake cpu cooler
3.0GHz ht intel (soon to be 3.0 quad core)
geforce gtx 280 (one day i hope to have 2 or 3 via sli)
apevia warlock 750watt psu (soon to be ABS BZ 1300watt)
gigabyte ep45-ud3r motherboard (one day to be a better one with sli)
4gigs of G.Skill ddr2 ram
and... um cool light up fans i guess
But anyways its up and running now, still working the kinks out.
Been trying to overclock the gpu but every time i try to it crashes du to lack of power. i have no clue how to increse voltage on that.
So what do you guys think of my rig?

ugh, im begining to get really frustrated with this gpu problem, i had to reintsall win xp last night. I had set the overclock and then crashed and in did not revert back to default on restart so it just kept crashing, and i keep getting more errors.

Hello again folks, i have reactivated my account.
Been really slammed at work, and school so havent had time to do much of anything. But anyway I thought i would share about the parts i have gotten for my comp.
next month getting the GTX 295
New motherboard with two pci-e 2.0 ports for sli, same model though.
ABZ BZ 1100 watt PSU
Also i have the volt issue worked out and its running great (although a little hot).
Other then that nothing has really been new around here, been looking to get a nice moniter, was looking at this one - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824005113
It's nice, although a little expensive but i really like LG.
So what setups do all of you have?
:Edit:
Oh! I almost forgot to tell you guys... i got my quad core!
I love it 3.0 Ghz stock and 12mb L2 cache.
My question still stands tho, what systems do all of you run with?

Hey DarkProject43, you have a very nice system there and it easily beats mine, can you post a picture of your computer I would like to see the beast
I have a 2nd hand u40si1 laptop which cost me £60, the power input socket was smash because someone had tried to force the wrong dc adapter into it.
After removing about 100 screws I could see the broken socket, I desoldered what was remaining of the contacts, cleaned the board and replaced it with a almost indentical part that I borrowed from an old project.
I plugged in some power (I wasnt expecting much) and she booted perfectly.
It came with windows vista installed and two password protected users so I logged in (dont ask lol) and tried a few things, everything seems to be working fine, HDD, DVD burner, ports etc so it looks like it was ok up until they broke the power socket.
I looked around the HDD for anything interesting but there was nothing lol so I have since formatted the drive for dual boot linux and windows xp.
The specs are not amazing but it does what I need it to do so im happy.
On board specs:
Intel Celeron 530 @ 1.73Ghz
1 GByte DDR2 ram
SIS Mirage 3 graphics (where do I find 3d accelerated drivers for linux ?)
Realtek Sound
DVD-RAM burner
1280x800 lcd wide screen
4 x USB ports
R8187 wifi card
Smart card socket
Ethernet
I probably have fogotten something from the list
Shes not pretty to look at but im happy, the camera flash kind of washed out the usually bright and colorful lcd screen.
I might give her a two tone candy case respray at some time or possibly a tron inspired theme.

Writing code is easy. Finishing is hard.
