I've been playing a free FPS game called Urban Terror for some time now. It's TOTALLY FREE, and pretty fun. It was originally a total conversion mod for Quake 3 known as a "Realism" mod. But it's taken a life of it's own now. It is now it's own stand alone client.

It's your basic shooter. Run around and frag anything that moves in Free For All, or play team based games. Capture the Flag, Team Death match, Survivor... and others. All weapons are real life weaponry. It IS still kinda arcady... But that's what makes it fun. It's not TOO serious, but it's serious enough for some good competition!

The download is about 700MB. Theres a whole slew of maps that come with it, and a buttload of user created maps. If you don't have a map for a particular server, most of them are configured for you do download them so you can come back whenever you like, or for your own use. There's even a little feature that lets you type in a players name to scan all servers and find what server that player is and give you the option to join.

My name in the game... Misery. Unlike Armagetron, I NEVER change my name in that game. So if you guys wanna give it a whirl, let me know. There's around 600 or more servers at any given time. So... GEAR UP! Hope to see someone out there on the battlefield!

Is there hackers?

Unfortunately, there are. But I have only read about them. I've never ran into one before.

If you're using the Quake 3 client, and if the server supports it, then you can use punkbuster. But from what I can tell, most servers, if not almost all, use Urban Terror dedicated. But I DO know that they watch for hackers. They have a community for server admins with blacklist IPs from hackers/cheaters. There's also a place to submit in-game recordings to be reviewed for cheating. If caught, you are put on a community ban list. Practically all servers (the popular ones at least) use that site. But it's an ongoing community effort. Considering the amount of people who play this game, the ban list isn't THAT big. But don't let that scare ya off. Like I said, I've NEVER run across one. Yet. And I've been playing for a good 6 months now.

Hey, I've had that game for about a year actually. Fun stuff. I like turnpike the most.
