I started it again, configured it again and started trying to connect...

heh, Z-man I would suggest getting windows 7 beta and figure out how to fix it, I believe it is the same Netcode changes. since this is exactly what it did to me when i was using windows 7. i believe this is most likely Desolates problem also. If you need a key I have several of them now heh.

Or if there is anything i could do to help just contact me in IRC

On it. They're not making the download easy for people who don't use Internet Explorer and are not surfing with admin rights.

Freaky: Unfortunately, it is the original file is the problem, and it is a problem with the source code.

It is probably best to download 0.2.8, until the problems with the 0.3 build are fixed :).

Huh? As far as I know, the problem hasn't been identified yet, and the other thread may indicate 0.2.8 is affected as well. Do you know more?

Hmm, the internet server browser also was giving me trouble on the Wii port (that's one of the reasons why there isn't one yet) based on the current 0.2.8 branch. We may be doing something subtly wrong there that only shows in some environments.

freaky: try epsy's fix described on:
http://forums.armagetronad.net/viewtopi ... ht=#202085
Delete the frommaster.srv in your Application Data\Armagetron\var folder. Because of the faulty build it has added entries like: "name ___________:4534" which Armagetron 0.2.8 does not like. Please use the 0.2.8 build and report back :). If it still causes problems rename var to var_old.

edit: Well I think that is the case. Example pastebin: http://pastebin.com/mea5474f

Z-man:
I am under the belief that the following are all stemming from the same problem?:

Suggest we remove the 0.3 from the beta site until a working version is uploaded?

Definitely. What, precicely, is the faulty build?

Also, could someone upload a broken frommaster.srv file? I appear to be unable to generate one.

http://www.neowin.net/news/main/09/01/0 ... r-to-patch that gives you direct links to download. also you may want http://blog.hznet.nl/2009/01/10/how-to- ... ows-7-key/

EDIT: I think it is the resource error, I deleted the resources in app data and program files and it seams to be working fine

Ah. The problem is quite simply that failing DNS lookups of names like __________ take ages on Windows, probably because they try the wins method which is painfully slow (using broadcasts and waiting for the response). Asynchronous DNS queries would help there. Nothing wrong with 0.2.8 code per se.

The broken build has been removed from the download list. Next step is to investigate what the **** happens in there :)
