A competitions / matches website?

Post by K-Yo »

We talked a bit on #armagetron about that.

I think we could get an "official" matches/fights/tourneys/competitions etc. website.

something like
armatronic.org
aa-fights.org
etc...

This website would hold at first simple data about clans, players and matches they played/will play

What I have in mind for the future (not foreseeable :P) is something like this: http://ops.warrock.net/ (don't take the design into account, it's just an example of some possibilities)

What do you think?

if you like it, let me know what domain suit for that in your opinion ;)

If it's official it has to be under armagetronad.net

I therefore propose http://fight.armagetronad.net/

domain name is a detail. more important is to ask: who's gonna do all the work?

I was in the process of making a tronic site, but basically just a reference for all information and a calendar, not interactive like your suggesting. anyway tronic-cup.co.cc is available for use. ftp but no ssh access, but totally free

I would like to help with this, but I think the project could be way too big for me :). Willing to try though.

Sounds like a good idea. I have some experience with webdesign and a couple of cms systems like Joomla or Drupal. I'd be willing to help with the site, too.

Well first of all it should be "official" page, attached to main arma site. That's because such site IMO won't be for "us", but for "them" - those who don't know arma yet or just started to play. Well, in fact majority of current players don't even know what the Tronic Ladle is.

I was thinking about this the other day. It seemed weird to me that SageLord had to put the Fortress Brawl information in the TR forum. Maybe it was because he wanted admin rights to the information presented there or whatever, but in general searching through forums for information is rather tedious IMO and I'd really like to see something like this start up.

I can arrange fight.armagetronad.net when you get some code together.

http://armaserv.ath.cx/ isn't currently what we were discussing, but had a roadmap to achieve the same goals. It has been a recent project that I started before the discussions on IRC. I nearly abandoned it, but I got the server match setup working (Um, which I admit is not the idea in mind).

It is planned to add the clan element, which I will give a go at, at some point. All that has been written at the moment though would probably need to be rewritten  .
