well generally, the top teams go to each ladle. So you can just take the results of the previous one. Shouldn't the best match be the last?DDMJ wrote:How do you classify the top 2 teams?owned wrote:with top 2 teams on opposite sides?
Unless the players in the Ladle are the exact same ones as the Ladle before, then they're can't be 2 top teams.
Ladle 17

depends what you mean by best, owned
(but yes, top two seeds should be those in the final & so on..)
What are the main reasons for 'randomising' the teams anyway? Wondering why it's only just been done now after 16 laldes..
Also need a time for the irc armabot randomisation, 8GMT ?
For anyone interested who's not on an irc client use http://www.mibbit.com/, select freenode from the drop down box & join #armagetron.tourneys

I highly suggest pink tomatoes server. His servers are the stablest, and are very lagless(at least for americans). I even think it would be more stable than ww.freako wrote:I've got no problems with the US/EU servers, but we need good stable servers, that can easily hold 16 players.... and atm we only have WW afl for that![]()
And... when 2 european teams end up in the semi-s it's just annoying that they have to play at an american server (same with american)
So we also need a system that keeps server changing to a minimum

I'm not sure if this has been discussed elsewhere but...
Off the top of my head, I can think of two ways to run a tourney like this with 10 entrants.
A:
First round there are 5 games. 5 teams advance.
Quarter-final round there are 2 games. 1 team gets a bye. 3 teams advance.
Semi-final round there is 1 game. 1 team gets a bye. 2 teams advance.
Final round.
I don't much like seeing a team get a bye into the finals.
B:
First round there are 2 games. 6 teams get byes. 8 teams advance.
Subsequent rounds run as in past 8-team ladles.
I like this idea.
I'm not claiming at all these are the only two ways this can be done. Certainly there are plenty more possibilities, but these two seem the most reasonable to me. Am I missing anything? And if not, which do we like better?
